Player Career Features
Player Career has seen some of the most impressive updates in FIFA 23, with a swarth of changes set to make this often-forgotten mode one of the very best in this year's game.
The changes include:
Performing certain actions on and off of the pitch you will gain Personality Points that will accumulate and expand your personality, giving you access to benefits and perks.
Your behaviour and decisions on the pitch will be closely monitored by the Player Personality system.
For example, every time you decide between connecting with a teammate or keeping the ball a little longer to set up the shot for yourself will shape the kind of player you are.
These kinds of decisions contribute to three distinct personality types:
Every Personality Point you earn is connected to a different Personality.
For example, passing to a teammate to earn an assist can generate Heartbeat points, while shooting, gives you Maverick and Virtuoso points.
When you reach the final tier of Player Personality, you can reach an Absolute level that will give you even more benefits and help you to make your mark as a player.
Off-Pitch Activities allow you to further shape your Player Personality outside of matches and training.
The activities include:
Decisions appear contextually and as a consequence of things you do either on the pitch or off it.
Decisions can include responding to things that are beyond your control.
For example, if your team has won a cup final, you can choose to take the credit, be humble or praise your team spirit - all of which will impact your player personality.
Investments allow you to potentially multiply the money you’ve earned in your career.
Some Investments are riskier than others and as you progress in a career and gather more funds, more Investment opportunities will become available for you.
Investment activities include clothing brands, mobile apps and dealing on the Stock Market.
You can choose if you want to purchase things that will help you grow as an athlete, such as sports equipment, or add a bit of glamour to your life by buying something flashy and grandiose
You will be able to hire staff, participate in charity events, and much more. As you grow financially you will get access to more items, services and events that will allow you to improve your Personality, improve Attributes, and expand your collection.
All of these additions serve to make FIFA 23's Career Mode potentially the best yet.
Gameplay Innovations Revealed
EA dropped the brand gameplay trailer on Wednesday, 27 July.
Over 10 minutes were showcased, breaking down the new gameplay features and showing off the new HyperMotion2 technology.
Women's Club Football CONFIRMED
Women's Club football will be arriving in FIFA 23 for the very first time, with the WSL and Div 1 Arkema featuring in this year's game.
EA provided the following:
Play as women’s club teams for the first time in EA SPORTS FIFA history as the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and Division 1 Arkema come to FIFA 23 at launch. Plus, enjoy dedicated HyperMotion2 capture that powers the women’s game to make female players move authentically in FIFA 23. Gameplay - A new risk versus reward shooting mechanic, refreshed free kicks, penalties and corners, and more realistic physics bring the variety of football to The World's Game.
Confirmed Women's Club sides for FIFA 23:
- Aston Villa
- Leicester City
- Manchester City
- Manchester United
- West Ham
- Paris FC
The above sides will be available to use from full launch, with EA potentially hinting that more women's teams could become available throughout the year.
Inter Milan set for Exit Door
It was announced that Konami and Inter Milan have agreed a deal that will see the Italian giants become exclusive to eFootball, much like Juventus had been in the past.
Licensed kits and stadia will become exclusive to Konami's free-to-play title, with the deal coming into effect in 2024.
This means that Inter Milan, their beautiful kits and sensational stadium will all be appearing for the final time in FIFA 23.
It remains to be seen if they will be renamed or if their name will remain the same, with a real possibility of having another Piemonte Calcio on our hands.
NEW League Inbound
The Vanarama National League (VNL) hasn't yet featured in the FIFA series, but that could all be about to change in FIFA 23.
With Wrexham arriving in the Rest of the World category in FIFA 22, there were rumours that the VNL could arrive last year, however, that rumour did not come to fruition.
Now, with clubs reportedly added to the code and plans in place for the league to arrive, we could finally see the VNL in FIFA.
RIP Position Modifiers
A feature that fans have been desperate to have for years looks to be finally arriving in FIFA 23.
Prolific leakers FUTSheriff and DonkTrading have both taken to Twitter to reveal a brand new feature arriving in Ultimate Team.
Whilst the big news may seem like the removal of position modifiers, it's the primary and secondary position element that promises to be a game-changer.
Players will now have primary and secondary positions assigned to their cards, meaning you will no longer have to shuffle around your squad to the detriment of chemistry.
Expensive position modifier cards are also gone, meaning the days of seeing strikers playing in central midfield are finally over.
This change is sure to be popular amongst FUT players, with primary and secondary positions being something spoken about in the FUT community for years.
Brand NEW Icons
Prolific leaker DonkTrading has taken to Twitter to leak some brand new information regarding FIFA 23 Icons.
Both Alfredo Di Stefano and David Villa have reportedly been added to the code, with the two legends of the Spanish league set to become main players in our Ultimate Teams later this year.
With Villa reportedly having been added to the code a few months back, we're not surprised to see the Spain, Barcelona and Valencia legend finally leaked as one of FIFA 23's newest Icons
EA Sports Lose ENTIRE License
Konami has been busy securing deals for eFootball, and the latest exclusive deal will mean that EA cannot feature this league in FIFA 23.
The league in question is the Liga BBVA MX, the highest level of football in Mexico.
The league itself announced the exclusive deal with Konami, confirming its absence from the upcoming FIFA 23 title.
The tweet reads "The LIGA BBVA MX and KONAMI, a leading Japanese video game company, announce a historic exclusivity agreement for the eFootball franchise."
Whilst this news may not be disastrous for EA, it still won't go down well with the Latin American fans.
There are also some fan favourite players plying their trade in the Mexican top-flight - including World Cup hero Guillermo Ochoa - who won't feature in FIFA 23.
AC Milan deal OVER
EA's exclusive partnership with AC Milan is ending this summer, with the Italian giants jumping ship to Konami, just like several other top Serie A clubs.
Atalanta, Lazio, and Roma are all exclusive to Konami's franchise, forcing EA to change the names of the clubs to Bergamo Calcio, Latium, and Roma FC respectively.
Napoli will also make the switch next season and won't have their licensed badge, kit, or name in FIFA 23, although it is yet to be confirmed what they will be called.
Brand New Chemistry System LEAKED
A recent leak from WeaverImBMW4er - backed up by prolific leakers such as FUTSheriff - suggests that a change could well be coming to chemistry in FIFA 23.
The leak suggests that nation/league chemistry links will be a thing of the past, with all players seemingly able to link with one another.
The leak also suggests that chemistry will be replaced by a star system, with teams able to reach a maximum of 3 chemistry stars for their team.
A chemistry rework isn't inherently terrible news for Ultimate Team, with some players abusing the system over the past couple of years.
Overall, this news could be a good indicator that Ultimate Team is moving in a new direction, we just hope that it isn't straying too far from the roots that made it so successful.
World Cup CONFIRMED
As part of the announcement, EA confirmed that World Cup content will be included in FIFA 23.
"We are committed to ensuring the next FIFA is our best ever, with more features, game modes, World Cup content, clubs, leagues, competitions, and players than any FIFA title before."
The return of a World Cup mode will be music to the ears of many FIFA fans, with the mode proving to be an excellent way of diversifying the content in Ultimate Team.
FIFA 23 Career Mode Stadium Creator
It looks as if the standard stadium creator in FIFA 23 is going to be expanded upon, with FUTZONEFIFA sharing details on a range of new customisation options.
The leak suggests that "Stadium Builder & Editor" will allow you to edit billboards, stadium capacity, the dynamic of the stadium, and more.
We have seen custom stadiums in FIFA before in various game modes, but this sounds like it could be taken to a completely new level.
This brand new feature could leave the door open for some classic FIFA components, such as signing deals with different sponsors.
Either way, we're just glad to see Career Mode is getting some love in FIFA 23.
