Here's everything we know so far about MUT 22, and when we can expect to learn more.
Latest - Madden 22 Ultimate Team Livestream Will Reveal Features
Don't miss the livestream, which begins at 7pm EST on Thursday, July 29th, and will likely run at least an hour with developer's talking about new features and possibly even giving us an in-game look!
Madden 22 Release Date
We've now learned that Madden 22 is scheduled for a release date of August 20, 2021, with players being able to play as early as August 17, 2021 with Early Access. Those with EA Play will also likely have 10 hours of early access via the EA Play Trial, which gives players the full game up to a week early (for a limited time)!
The official reveal trailer seen above features our first look at the actual gameplay of Madden 22 and shined the spotlight on cover athletes Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes.
On top of the possibility of Early Access, players who pre order the MVP Edition or Dynasty Edition of Madden 22 can score some big Ultimate Team rewards, which you can find more details about here.
MUT 22 New Features
While Madden 22 is now official and several pieces of news about the upcoming title have been revealed by EA Sports, little is known about MUT 22.
We do know Ultimate Team is returning this year, and the game mode is expected to integrate new features like Dynamic Gameday and Next Gen Stats for players on next gen consoles.
There's also a new halftime adjustments feature this year across all of Madden 22 that allows a team gameplan to be adjusted at halftime based on the way your opponent performed in the first half.
We may have to wait a few months to know more, as the newly released Madden 22 All-Access schedule has Ultimate Team relegated to an unannounced reveal in August.
However, the core pieces of Ultimate Team are just one part of the puzzle, and much of what makes the mode fun will continue to land after Madden 22 has launched.
Promos, Challenges, Missions, and Packs
There are still questions about MUT 22, but we know that certain mechanics are almost certain to return to Ultimate Team in Madden 22.
We should see unique promos or programs like MUT Heroes or Golden Ticket make a return at some point throughout the season, as well as frequently updated packs with new cards.
Challenges and Missions will also likely make a return, hopefully with updates to change things up in Madden 22 compared to last year.
Promos & Programs
One of the first big questions going into MUT 22 will be what the first promo chosen for Madden 22 Ultimate Team ends up being, which are often also called programs.
Madden has used tons of different promo themes in the past several years, and here are just a few we might see return for MUT 22:
- Autumn Blast
- Campus Heroes
- Ghosts of Madden
- Golden Ticket
- MUT Heroes
- MUT Master
- Out of Position (OOP)
- Power Up
- Snow Beasts
- Sugar Rush
- Zero Chill
With a launch still at least a few months away, it may some time before we know more about Madden 22 Ultimate Team.
Challenges & Missions
One of the earliest things you'll likely have to take on in MUT 22 are starting challenges, which served as a test of skills and also partly as a tutorial in MUT 21.
After you get through the starting challenges, you'll take on others which often include recreating classic moments or performing in a specific preset scenario.
By comparison, missions tend to be made up of other tasks like collecting certain kinds of players or doing certain tasks in games that will lead you to a final reward for the mission.
MUT 22 Packs
The bedrock of Ultimate Team is packs, and we're sure to see plenty new and returning types of packs in MUT 22.
Packs become the primary way you earn new cards and content for Madden Ultimate Team, and that's unlikely to change in Madden 22.
While you will likely be able to purchase in-game currency to buy packs with real-world money, you should also be able to use training, points, or coins earned in MUT to purchase packs.
