Despite there still being content to enjoy as EA Sports brings updates to Madden 21, the hype train is already rolling for Madden 22 to hit consoles later this year.
If you're excited to see Madden NFL return to PS5, we've got all the information you need including reveal trailer, release date, price, and more.
Latest News - Madden 21 launches onto EA Play
With the excitement building towards Madden 22, players who have yet to try out Madden 21 are now able to do so through EA Play.
The subscription service by EA is available on PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and Origin, and Madden 21 joins the list of available titles as of March 2, 2021.
New subscribers can snag a month for just 99 cents, with a regular subscription being $4.99 per month after that initial period.
Madden 22 Reveal Trailer
Unfortunately, we haven't yet been gifted a reveal trailer for Madden 22, but the trailer for Madden 21 landed on June 16, 2020, just before EA Play Live.
With the global pandemic still having major effects, it wouldn't be surprising to see EA go with a digital-only event this year, but that still means we'll have plenty to be excited about.
Last year's Madden 21 gameplay trailer was also followed a few days later by a dual-trailer with FIFA 21 at EA Play Live that specifically hyped the launch of those two titles on next-gen consoles.
While they did each eventually hit PS5 and Xbox Series X, the next-gen releases came in December, roughly a month after those next-gen consoles launched.
Madden 22 Release Date for PS5
While there isn't an official confirmed release date just yet for Madden 22 on PS5, you can safely expect that EA Sports will be aiming for August of 2021.
The last three years we've seen Madden release on a Friday in August. While Madden 19 and Madden 20 hit a bit earlier in the month, Madden 21 returned to a late-August standard, so August 20, 2021 or August 27, 2021 are the most likely release dates for Madden 22.
Like clockwork, they have been releasing Madden games every August for going on two decades now, and it's unlikely EA Sports will let that tradition waiver with first installment to launch ready for next-gen consoles.

Madden 21 did come to PS5 by December, but it originally released on PS4 on August 28, 2020. With that delay in mind, in many ways, we may finally get to see what next-gen can do for the world of football with Madden 22.
Madden 22 Price for PS5
Unfortunately, next-gen consoles come with next-gen prices. While they haven't officially announced Madden 22 for PS5 and the game's price, we can expect it to follow the new standard of $70.
While this is a step up from the $60 standard seen for PS4 games in the previous console generation, Sony Interactive Entertainment's President & CEO Jim Ryan defended and confirmed the new $70 baseline when he spoke to The Telegraph last year.
It's not the case for every single game released on PS5 so far, but the new $70 price point looks like it's here to stay, and it won't be a surprise if EA Sports sticks to that for Madden 22 on PS5.
Truly Next-Gen Madden
There was plenty of excitement about Madden 21 heading to PS5, but the next-gen update that released in December failed to live up to that excitement.
There was plenty of promise, but Madden 21 launched on PS5 as relatively the same game that had launched a few months prior on PS4. There was a visual change to the play-calling in games, some updated graphics, and a minor addition of Next Gen Stats during replays.
EA Sports has promised upgrades to Franchise Mode that could include coaching and staff management, scouting improvements, new scenario engine enhancements, a new team chemistry system, Commissioner Tools improvements, and more.
While details are scarce, EA Sports seems committed to continuing to improve the franchise with the launch of Madden 22, and will hopefully not make the mistake of coasting on new graphics and the features of yesteryear.
