With enhanced graphics and meticulous attention to detail, will we even know the difference between watching FIFA and real-life football?

A combination of HyperMotion2 technology and AcceleRATE will bring us as close to the real game as possible.

HyperMotion2 Technology

Advances to HyperMotion gameplay technology with twice as much match data capture unlock new features and brings over 6000 authentic animations taken from millions of frames of advanced match capture to FIFA 23.

AcceleRATE is a new feature coming to FIFA 23 for next-gen only.

It is designed to distinguish between different running styles for players, splitting them into three categories depending on how fast they can get off the mark, and how long they can maintain a high speed.

This will provide more realistic gameplay and highlight player personalities on the pitch and create more diverse player types.

FIFA 23 on PS4

If you are stuck on a previous Gen console, then don't worry, EA has already confirmed that FIFA 23 will be released on PS4.

Dual Entitlement will also be available, so there is nothing to worry about if you do manage to snag a PS5 console during the course of the FIFA game cycle.

The downside of playing on PS4 is there are some new features that can only be experienced on the Next Gen consoles, like the new technology we have outlined.

However, the main gameplay modes, like Career Mode, Ultimate Team and VOLTA, as well as the bulk of the content will be similar across both generations.

Should you make the switch from PS4 to PS5, you will notice that the gameplay itself will also feel slightly different.

Cross-play testing is currently LIVE in FIFA 22, so unsurprisingly EA has confirmed that it will feature in FIFA 23.

For now, cross-play will only be for players playing across the same generation of console.

Cross-play will also be available only in 1 v 1 game modes including Online Friendlies, Seasons, and Ultimate Team.

Can PS4 and PS5 users play together?

Yes, it is possible for PS4 and PS5 players to play FIFA 23 together, however, it is a little more complicated than that.

There is no crossplay between the PS5 version and the PS4 version of FIFA 23.

So, if you have a PS5 and you want to play FIFA 23 with your PS4 friends, you'll need to purchase the PS4 version of the game.

Once you have downloaded the PS4 version of FIFA 23 you can play with your PS4 friends but only on certain game modes, like Pro Clubs.

Please note, this does not work the other way around - PS4 users cannot play the PS5 version of FIFA 23 on their PS4.

PS5 users can buy the Ultimate Edition, which will give you both the PS4 version and the PS5 version and allows you to switch between them with ease on the same account/console.

All you would have to do would be to press options on the game and then under game version change to the one you want to play.
