Madden 22 Cover Athlete Revealed

Despite continued updates for Madden 21, the anticipation is already starting to increase for Madden 22 to hit later this year.

While the "Madden Curse" may or may not play a role, there are some top contenders that already stand out from the pack to be the Cover Athlete for Madden 22.

Latest - Coaching improvements leak for Franchise Mode

We recently got the third and final Title Update for Madden 21 with a focus on Franchise Mode, but in the process they've also leaked information about Madden 22.

In a video accompanying the update for Madden 21, the screen seen above was behind Madden NFL Executive Producer Seann Graddy.

A new Staff Management system can be seen with both Offensive and Defensive Coordinators, indicating this feature will be added to Franchise Mode in Madden 22.

Who will be the Madden 22 Cover Athlete?

We talked about various superstars that EA will have to think long and hard about before making the decision on who will become the Madden 22 Cover Athlete.

It will be very difficult to overlook the GOAT, Tom Brady, for the famed spot. Brady is coming off his seventh Super Bowl win along with the Super Bowl MVP.

But maybe EA will go with a drastic decision and pick an incoming rookie. It would be foolish to sleep on Derrick Henry, Josh Allen, Aaron Rodgers, and a bunch of other superstars that had an exceptional season.

How did Lamar Jackson perform after being the Madden 21 Cover Athlete

Jackson was rewarded for his MVP Season back in 2019 with the Madden 21 Cover Athlete slot.

Jackson followed that up by leading the Baltimore Ravens to an 11-4 record and a playoff win against the Tennessee Titans. He threw for 26 touchdowns and rushed for over 1,000 yards.

Needless to say, he pretty much buried the Madden Curse.

Madden 22 Cover Athlete Contenders

We have come up with three superstars that we believe have a legitimate chance of gracing the cover of Madden 22.

Tom Brady

There is not much that needs to be said on why the GOAT deserves to be the Madden 22 Cover Athlete. He left New England, went down to Tampa Bay, and won eight straight games that culminated with a Super Bowl win and the Super Bowl MVP.

He is the best to ever do it and it seems ridiculous to think of Madden 22 without Brady as the Cover Athlete.

He silenced all the critics who labeled him as too old or that he could not perform outside of the New England Patriots system by dismantling the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

Derrick Henry

King Henry would have been a shoo-in had Brady not done what he did.

Henry is a part of the exclusive Madden 99 club and is a complete menace on the gridiron.

He rushed for a mind-boggling 2,027 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns both of which are career highs.

It is hard to ignore the fact that the Tennessee Titans go as far as Henry can take them and that is why he is in consideration for the Madden 22 Cover Athlete.

Trevor Lawrence

Now this is definitely not "legitimate" but it would definitely not be shocking if EA decided that Trevor Lawrence was worthy of the Madden 22 Cover Athlete.

Coming out of Clemson, there is nobody that has been talked about more over the past couple years than Lawrence.

He dominated throughout his collegiate career and has teams watering at the mouth ahead of the NFL Draft.

It is highly unlikely that EA would make such an unprecedented move, but Lawrence will grace the cover of Madden at some point throughout his career.

Madden 22 Deluxe Edition

The Madden 22 Deluxe Edition could feature an NFL legend as the Cover Athlete. EA has not done that the past couple of Maddens since 2019 when Terrell Owens was on the cover of Madden 19 Hall of Fame Edition.

Peyton Manning

Shockingly, Manning has never been on the cover of any Madden game.

The two-time Super Bowl Champ and five-time MVP never made it onto the cover throughout his 18 seasons in the NFL.

On Feb. 6, 2021, Manning was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a first-ballot candidate.

It would be extremely fitting for EA and Madden to make it up to Manning by selecting him as the Madden 22 Deluxe Edition Cover Athlete.

Madden 22 Cover Athlete Revealed

If this year follows like the years in the past, Madden fans could expect the Madden 22 Cover Athlete to be announced sometime in August.

We will have more information regarding the Madden 22 Cover Athlete and other information surrounding the game as we approach the NFL season.
