PATENT PENDING - EA moved quickly to patent the name 'EA Sports FC' last year

Whatever the game will be called, we are sure to see plenty of improvements from EA as they look to build on their record-breaking release of FIFA 22.

Ultimate Team will likely be the focus once again, although EA has spent more time renovating Career Mode with the new create-a-club mode a big hit among fans.

Release Date

We are yet to see an official release date, but we always have a rough idea of when the game will arrive.

FIFA 22 was fully launched on Friday, 1 October 2021, so if EA follows the same trend, then Friday, 30 September 2022 could be our FIFA 23 release date.

As the game goes live before that (early access/Web App) we will likely see the new player ratings revealed in the month leading up to release.

Watch out for the return of the 'Ratings Collective' as they will no doubt be sharing their work on social media as the hype towards launch builds.

FUT Top 10

We don't see too much changing at the top of the FIFA ratings in FIFA 23, although we would not be surprised to see Lionel Messi drop down to a 92 OVR.

CENTRAL STAR - Messi's position reveal could be as exciting as his ratings

This would see him level with Robert Lewandowski as the two best players in the game, and there can't be too many arguments with that.

Mohamed Salah's sensational season deserves an upgrade, and we think he should join the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe with a 91 OVR.

STAR STRIKER - Haaland looks set to become the world's leading marksman

Our biggest mover would be Erling Haaland though as the Borussia Dortmund superstar continues to find the net with alarming regularity, so a 90 OVR is fair for arguably the world's second-best striker.

Predicted Top 10:

  • Lionel Messi (OVR 92)
  • Robert Lewandowski (OVR 92)
  • Kylian Mbappe (OVR 91)
  • Neymar (OVR 91)
  • Kevin De Bruyne (OVR 91)
  • Jan Oblak (OVR 91)
  • Cristiano Ronaldo (OVR 91)
  • Mohamed Salah (OVR 91)
  • N'Golo Kante (OVR 90)
  • Erling Haaland (OVR 90)

Current standings

Confirmation for any FIFA 23 ratings is still months away, but EA has been releasing regular squad updates with give us an indication of what is to come.

Lionel Messi (OVR 93) and Robert Lewandowski (OVR 92) remain the highest-rated players in FIFA 22, but there are some new additions at 91 OVR.

Initially, there were five 91 OVR players at the start of FIFA 22, but that has changed in the last couple of months.

We now have six stars rated 91 overall, with Mohamed Salah and Karim Benzema receiving upgrades, while Jan Oblak has dropped down to 90 OVR.
