LATEST - War Games Now Live
Apex Legends has reached its next massive event - War Games.
This event will be a great way to shake up gameplay ahead of Season 9 - especially cycling 5 new LTM game modes!
No Full Patch Notes?
Respawn Entertainment is always tweaking Apex Legends in an effort to keep things balanced; however, that doesn't mean every title update brings a slew of Patch Notes and changes.
We're actually not sure the War Games Event is going to have anywhere near as many updates and fixes as you'd expect from a standard Patch Notes.
With Season 9 being about three weeks away (and some major Legend changes planned for then) we don't think the War Games event will actually be a full Patch. Respawn Entertainment doesn't always fully update their title so close to a seasonal change and the War Games event was moved up slightly after the Chinatown Market crossover delay.
We are expecting some more details about the new LTMs and a few refinements, but nothing major.
New LMG Leaks
Reports are starting to show up that there's a new "Light Ammo LMG" in the works for Apex Legends ahead of the War Games event.
You can see an initial look at the weapon's design below; It does look a bit lighter than the other LMGs currently in rotation.
We're not sure if this will drop in time for the event, as there's not long left, but Respawn Entertainment have done crazier things in the past!
However, it is more likely that any new weapons will drop with Season 9 after the event.
War Games Start Time & Duration
Apex Legends' War Games Event finally has a release date. It was rumoured for a long time and now, after the delay of the Chinatown Market collaboration, we have a revised release date that's a little sooner than expected.
The next Apex Legends Event is due to start on April 13th and it will last for two weeks. We don't know an exact time just yet but we're expecting it to be around 12:00 EST / 17:00 BST to 13:00 EST / 18:00 BST like previous events. You can check out the announcement trailer below:
Like with any event, there's going to be a new Rewards Track to complete with limited-time Event Challenges as well as a new batch of cosmetics to unlock in Event Apex Packs.
Playlist Takeover & Details
What makes this event unique, though, is the Playlist Takeover that's coming with it. There's going to be five limited-time playlist modifiers rotating throughout the event's duration and we have a brief overview below:
- Killing Time: The round time is reduced with every Legend death
- Shield Regen: Shields constantly regenerate
- Auto Banners: Automatically retrieve fallen players' banners
- Ultra Zones: High-Rarity loot areas open up throughout Kings Canyon
- Second Chance: Everyone gets a free respawn in-game
Respawn Entertainment also shared a Modifier Schedule, if some of those sound like they'll put you off, so you know when each one will appear in-game.

All modes begin and end during mornings, PT time.
- Second Chance: Tuesday, 4/13 – Thursday, 4/15
- Ultra Zones: Thursday, 4/15 – Monday, 4/19
- Auto Banners: Monday, 4/19 – Wednesday, 4/21
- Killing Time: Wednesday, 4/21 – Friday, 4/23
- Armor Regen: Friday, 4/23 – Tuesday, 4/27
