Maggie's War Games LTMs shake up Apex Legends

The War Games Event is here in Apex Legends, and with it comes some very exciting new LTM game modes.

We have everything you need to know about the 5 new Apex Legends LTM game modes below!

LATEST - War Games Have Arrived

Apex Legends War Games is here, and kicks off with one of the more tame LTMs, Second Chance.

Second Chance gives every player a free respawn, letting players get a bit more aggressive in their games.

But that certainly won't be the end of the fun.

War Games Start Date

The Apex Legends War Games event began on April 13th, and introduces five rotating LTMs over a two week period.

You can check out the announcement trailer which highlights them all before we go into more detail below.

Schedule

The Apex Legends War Games LTM game modes will release according to the following schedule from Respawn Entertainment:

  • Second Chance: Tuesday, 4/13 – Thursday, 4/15
  • Ultra Zones: Thursday, 4/15 – Monday, 4/19
  • Auto Banners: Monday, 4/19 – Wednesday, 4/21
  • Killing Time: Wednesday, 4/21 – Friday, 4/23
  • Armor Regen: Friday, 4/23 – Tuesday, 4/27

Limited Time Modes (LTMs)

The new modes coming to Apex Legends in the War Games are more "Takeovers" than LTMs, but that's beside the point.

There's going to be five limited-time game modifiers coming to Apex Legends throughout the two-week event and we have details on what they are below.

Shield Regen

This one, as you might imagine, features automatically regenerating shields. This means that you're going to have to hit hard and fast in any fight you get into because your opponent could easily be full-strength again before you know it in a longer-range fight.

Killing Time

Are you some sort of Legend? Hell yes, you are! Although, that isn't a good thing! In this mode, every time a Legend dies the round timer is reduced. This means that games are going to be faster than ever and the circle is going to be on the move a lot more than usual. But, hey! Respawn Entertainment is calling you a legend so there's that?

Auto Banners

This one seems like it should already be a feature in-game but it essentially means that you'll automatically pick up the banners from your dead teammates. This should increase the amount of respawns in-game and could be the one where you get your big win.

Ultra Zones

Ultra Zones are going to be small areas of the map which have high-rarity loot in concentrated drops. These are going to be chaotic and dangerous, but the payout could well be enough to carry you through to the end.

Second Chance

This is an upgraded version of Auto Banners, really. In Second Chance, you'll be able to get a free respawn when you die. We're not sure if this means you only get the one, but we imagine that's what it means. Still... Free respawns aren't so bad.

Rewards Tracker & More

Like any Apex Legends event, War Games isn't just bringing LTMs to the table. There's going to be a new set of cosmetics and a Reward Track for you to complete exclusive to the event.

As you can see, it's pretty similar to the other Apex Legends Reward Tracks from previous events. There's a collection of cosmetic items, a couple of Legend Skins and some XP boosts to keep you busy for the duration of the event.

There will also be some limited-time event-exclusive skins that you can unlock through event-specific Apex Loot Packs and in-game currencies. You can see a few of them below:

Annoyingly, these are once again all pretty solid and Respawn Entertainment has outdone themselves again in the wake of a disrupted schedule. However, there are a few complaints that they appear to be more recolours than fully new skins.
