WWE 2K23 trailer filmed with potential cover star Cody Rhodes

With announcements likely just weeks away, the WWE 2K23 trailer may already be in production based on new reports.

Here's everything we know so far about the WWE 2K23 trailer including the presence of potential cover star Cody Rhodes.

Cody Rhodes reportedly filmed footage for possible WWE 2K23 trailer

Official news remains scarce, but new reports may have tipped off details about the first WWE 2K23 trailer.

According to Fightful Select, WWE filmed a commercial just last week in Los Angeles featuring Cody Rhodes "or at the very least someone dressed up exactly like him" and The Miz locking up on a bridge.

Fightful Select hasn't completely confirmed it was for the WWE 2K23 commercial but mentions in two separate reports that this is the likely reason for the shoot.

In a new report today, Fightful Select also stated that Johnny Gargano, Rey Mysterio, Dominik, Rhea Ripley, Damian Priest, and Bianca Belair were present for filming.

Looking back to the build towards WWE 2K22, the official announcement trailer as seen above was filmed with several WWE superstars on location.

Considering the success of WWE 2K22, it appears they're using some of the same strategies by creating an elaborate trailer to kick things off.

If the same reveal timing is used as last year, the WWE 2K23 trailer is likely to be revealed in late January 2023.

Cody Rhodes continues to be a WWE 2K23 cover star favorite

With his return to WWE coming just a few weeks after the launch of WWE 2K22, there was early speculation about whether Cody Rhodes could've made it into that title.

Visual Concepts and WWE Games seemed to settle on the alternative option of holding off on Cody Rhodes for the WWE 2K23 roster rather than pushing him forward as a last-minute DLC addition.

However, fans quickly uploaded their own created versions of Cody Rhodes to Community Creations which remain downloadable for WWE 2K22 players.

While it isn't guaranteed, it's highly likely that their pick for WWE 2K23 cover star would've been among those involved in the announcement trailer.

Bianca Belair is the most likely other option who was there for filming, but Cody Rhodes increasingly feels like the favorite.

After being sidelined due to an injury, Cody Rhodes is heavily expected to return before WrestleMania 39 and would tie-in well for the launch of WWE 2K23.
