NBA 2K23 MyCAREER once again puts players into the action under the nickname MP, but there's a glimmer of hope if you're tired of that name.
We've got details on how to change your MyPLAYER nickname in NBA 2K23 MyCAREER and how that change will affect the game.
NBA 2K23: How to change your MyPLAYER nickname from MP in MyCAREER
If you were hoping this year's NBA 2K23 MyCAREER would stray away from the mostly despised MP nickname, there's both good and bad news.
While MyCAREER kicks off without any option to edit or change the nickname and makes it seem set in stone, there is something hiding in your Settings.
Once you're in MyCAREER, press start to open the menu and tab to the far right, then enter MyCAREER Settings.

Here you'll spot the third entry in that menu which has "Secondary Nickname," and the list of options for your MyPLAYER is fairly extensive.
It's not unlike the nicknames included in WWE 2K22 that you can have ring announcers and commentary use for your Superstar.
However, the catch here is "Secondary" which does tip that you won't be able to completely do away with being called MP in MyCAREER.
Does changing your nickname change dialogue and commentary?
After you've made the change above, as "MP" is the default Secondary Nickname in MyCAREER Settings, you'll get different Commentary during games.
This is the good news, as Commentary during your actual games will change to the newly chosen Secondary Nickname, but the dialogue elsewhere does not.
The most likely reason for this is simply that 2K didn't want to pay voice actors to record voice lines for every single nickname variation available.
Commentators and announcers already have to record mass amounts of dialogue for these games to include all the different player variations across the league.
However, voice actors hired to record dialogue for the NPCs throughout the MyCAREER story have a much more concise set of lines.
Rather than expanding with even basic options, you'll be stuck hearing MP from other characters in MyCAREER despite changing your secondary nickname.
