After you've kicked off your MyCAREER with your newly built MyPLAYER in NBA 2K23, one of your first big choices has to do with Leadership Skills.

The path you choose to follow will influence the Leadership Skills you'll gain access to as your MyPLAYER continues to level up in MyCAREER.

Deciding on which is best will depend on your position and your personal playstyle, as each has different strengths.

You'll have the above screen in MyCAREER with the option to "Keep it Simple" or create a "Solid Foundation" as you chart your path forward.

Centers will more likely want to go with General, as this can be a more defensive style and spreading boosts to your teammates will also help them make moments happen.

Guards are more likely to fit with Trailblazer to see shooting boosts and focus on your own skills with less significant bonuses for your teammates.

Forwards are more adaptable to either option, but again this will depend if you're planning a more defensive or offensive playing style.

Either option can work for any player, but picking one that fits your strengths will give you the best chance for success in MyCAREER.

How to Activate & Unlock Leadership Skills in MyCAREER

Making use of your Leadership Skills will be an ongoing process throughout MyCAREER, but it starts with actually unlocking them.

You'll need Skill Points to unlock new Leadership Skills, and there are a few ways your MyPLAYER can earn them.

First off, you'll notice as MyCAREER unfolds that you're given dialogue options with General or Trailblazer answers, and choosing those earns you Skill Points.

You'll also earn Skill Points by activating your Leadership Skills in-game, but the exact ways you do that will vary as Higher Tier Leadership Skills with stronger Attribute Boosts have more difficult requirements for activation.

Complete in-game objectives such as "make 5 shots from anywhere" or "register 5 assists without a turnover" in order to activate your Leadership Skills.

You'll be provided with in-game popups that show your progression as you work to activate your Leadership Skills in MyCAREER.
