AEW Console Game roster continues to add huge names

While the upcoming AEW Console Game is still months away, we're already getting an idea of the legendary roster it will have.

Between new partnerships and absolute icons, here's the AEW Console Game roster that we're expecting to see right now.

Latest - Wrestling legend Owen Hart to join the roster

Big news was revealed today as AEW has entered into a new partnership with the Owen Hart Foundation, and as a result the wrestling legend will be joining their upcoming console game!

It will be the first video game inclusion for Owen Hart in nearly two decades, and he joins an already massive roster of potential legends.

We've got more details here on the news and whether he could join other AEW Games titles as well.

AEW Console Game: Confirmed Roster

As of now, only a small handful of names have been confirmed as being a part of the AEW Console Game roster.

Each of these comes from the very limited footage we've seen for the upcoming AEW Console Game, both the very early teaser trailer and the more recent gameplay preview.

The following have been confirmed for the AEW Console Game roster:

While there are many other top names in the company that are almost guaranteed to be included, these are the only ones we can call confirmed at this time.

AEW Elite GM offers a big roster clue

One of the best indicators of what kind of roster we'll see in the AEW Console Game is the roster in the already released AEW Elite GM mobile game.

Aubrey Edwards has previously confirmed that only signed AEW talents with a contract were able to be included due to the licensing requirements of being in the game.

We don't yet know if the AEW Console Game will have the opportunity to have a roster as large as this, but we're hoping to see all of them included.

New Signings & Wrestling Legends

There are a handful of other names we could see in the game that are connected to AEW in other ways, have just shown up, or are heavily rumored to arrive in the coming weeks.

The big three potential arrivals are Bryan Danielson (formerly known as Daniel Bryan), CM Punk, and Adam Cole, while recent acquisitions like Malakai Black and Andrade El Idolo could also be in the game.

While Danielson and Punk have started to sound like a done deal based on recent reports, Adam Cole is only known to have his current WWE contract ending soon, but may choose to re-sign with that company rather than departing.

In addition to those options, AEW has a handful of legendary talents working as backstage producers, coaches, agents, or on television as non-wrestling talent.

The following legends could be included in the AEW Console Game roster:

  • Tully Blanchard
  • Arn Anderson
  • Jake Roberts
  • Vickie Guerrero
  • Excalibur
  • Dean Malenko
  • Jerry Lynn
  • Nick Mondo
  • Sonjay Dutt
  • Paul Wight
  • Tony Schiavone
  • Jim Ross

AEW has also shown a willingness to bring in legends for appearances on AEW Dynamite and brought in a handful of celebrities as well.

Whether they've been on AEW already or have a known connection to a key AEW figure, the following legends and celebrities could be in the AEW Console Game:

  • Shaquille O'Neal
  • Snoop Dogg
  • Mike Tyson
  • David Arquette
  • Juventud Guerrera
  • Nick Gage
  • Super Dragon

NJPW, Impact Wrestling, NWA & more

One of the biggest things that would potentially explode the size of the AEW Console Game roster is whether they can form agreements with other promotions they're currently working with.

New Japan Pro Wrestling and Impact Wrestling talent have shown up several times on AEW programming, and it's known they have a current talent sharing agreement between the companies.

The same is true of NWA talent, as even the NWA Women's Championship has been contested during AEW events, and we've also seen independent stars known for working GCW show up quite a few times.

If AEW is able to strike a deal with any of these promotions to include some of their talents, whether it's at initial launch or even in special DLC released at a later time, it could make a massive impact on the title.

Create A Wrestler can fill the gaps

Finally, having a versatile and online Create A Wrestler mode with the ability to upload and download creations can fill any imaginable roster gaps.

We've already seen this with the WWE 2K community, as most AEW wrestlers were top downloads for WWE 2K titles as soon as the company was founded.

These creations are all community led, which allows versions of legends, talent from other companies, and any pop culture character or celebrity imaginable to be created within the game.

If the AEW Console Game can provide a high-quality creation suite with a community upload and download system, it would make just about all potential roster gaps fillable by the fans themselves.
