Among Us Rumours Intensify
Despite the back and forth between the community, the idea that an Among Us collaboration could be coming is exciting. The files that were uncovered have been debunked by a few leakers but others have doubled down that the crossover is coming.
We'll find out the truth come Tuesday, 17 August, when Fortnite Update 17.40 is live.
Fortnite Update 17.40 Release Date
Multiple Fortnite leakers confirmed the existence of update 17.40 as well as its positioning on the staging servers. This usually means the update is around one week out from launching. This would put the release date of the patch as Tuesday, 17 August.
Tuesday is the usual update day for Fortnite and the downtime is expected to start at around 09:00 BST / 04:00 EST / 01:00 PST
Fortnite Update 17.40 Fixes
The Fortnite community Trello board is always the best place to go when looking for potential fixes in an upcoming update. With each passing update, items from the list will disappear but some have been around for a while and 17.40 could finally be their time for a fix.
A major one is the inability to open a cosmic chest if a member of your team leaves the match unexpectedly. A cosmic chest requires all members of the team to participate in the opening sequence and if someone is missing, the game does not recognise this and adjust. Instead, it's just impossible to open one.
One leaker, in particular, @XTigerHyperX, has pointed out that update 17.40 is approximately double the size of update 17.30. They also allude that the number of 'builds' is an indication of how many fixes are being implemented or tested.
As we close in on the end of the season, fixes and tests will start ramping up for the beginning of Season 8.
