Whether you have a goalkeeper coming towards the end of his career or have one in his prime, you must cast an eye to the future.

What is a Wonderkid Goalkeeper?

This piece covers the best potential wonderkid goalkeepers in FIFA 20 – aged between 16 and 19. These youngsters have the highest potential ratings of all the young players in Career mode, and could be the missing link in your squad.

Alessandro Plizzari (OVR 66 – POT 84)

Age: 19

Club: Livorno (on loan from AC Milan)

Country: Italy

Best Stats: 72 GK Reflexes, 68 GK Diving, 68 GK Handling

Value: £1 million

Wage: £900 per week 

Alessandro Plizarri is currently playing in goal for Livorno in Serie B, but he is on loan from AC Milan, gaining some valuable experience in the Italian second division.

Plizarri needs to keep his head up after failing to keep a clean sheet in his debut for the club. With an 84 potential and a price around £2 million you really should consider getting him in your squad when his loan move expires.

Gavin Bazunu (OVR 59 – POT 84)

Manchester City struck a deal to sign Gavin Bazunu from Shamrock Rovers at the start of the 2018-19 season, and finally got a moment in the spotlight heading City’s squad in their pre-season tour of Asia.

Extremely quick off his line and with excellent reactions, Bazunu sets himself apart from the pack by speaking through his play. You can purchase the youngster for roughly £700,000 in FIFA 20, and you could see him develop into an 84 or higher if you play well overt time.

Diogo Costa (OVR 70 – POT 83)

Club: Porto

Country: Portugal

Best Stats: 73 Reflexes, 71 Positioning, 69 Diving

Value: £2.5 million (Release clause: £6.4 million)

Wage: £2,000 per week

Diogo Costa has some of the most well-rounded goalkeepers of all the players in this piece, boasting ratings of 66 and above in diving, handling, reflexes and positioning (and you can pick him up for as little as 200 coins on PS4, or 700 on Xbox One).

Currently playing for FC Porto B, the young Portuguese ‘keeper is getting plenty of starts and gaining valuable experience. He will likely kick on and become one of the best goalkeepers of his generation.

Maarten Vandevoordt (OVR 63 – POT 83)

Club: Genk

Country: Belgium

Best Stats: 68 GK Reflexes, 67 Diving, 63 Handling

Value: £540,000 (Release clause: £1.4 million)

Wage: £900 per week

Maarten Vandevoordt is the 17 year-old Belgian starting for Genk, and possesses some impressive reflex, diving and handling attributes.

You can pick him up for around £1 million, with the potential of developing him into an 83 or higher in Career Mode.

Christian Fruchtl (OVR 65 – POT 82)

Age: 19

Club: Bayern Munich

Country: Germany

Best Stats: 68 GK Reflexes, 68 GK Diving, 66 GK Kicking

Value: £878,000 (Release clause: £1.8 million)

Wage: £900 per week

Christian Fruchtl is Bayern’s 19-year-old stopper, currently playing in the shadow of Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich. Though the youngster will struggle to get game time in the Bundesliga, he will gain some invaluable experience in his time at Bayern.

With impressive diving (68), reflexes (68) and handling (85), you should consider picking up Fruchtl in Career Mode for around the £1.5 million mark.

Carlos Olses (OVR 62 – POT 82)

Age: 18

Club: Racing Club

Country: Venezuela

Best Stats: 65 GK Reflexes, 63 GK Diving, 60 GK Positioning

Value: £473,000 (Release clause: £1.1 million)

Wage: £900 per week

Carlos Olses’ comes in as the sixth-best wonderkid goalkeeper this year. The Venezuelan player is owned by local club Deportivo La Guaira, bus has earned his break with a loan deal to Argentine giants Racing Club.

Olses’s best attributes are his reflexes (65) and dives (63), but he also has a good sense of positioning. With his loan deal made permanent on FIFA 20, look to sign him for around £900,000.

Altube (OVR 62 – POT 82)

Age: 19

Club: Real Madrid

Country: Spain

Best Stats: 63 GK Kicking, 63 GK Reflexes, 62 reactions

Value: £495,000 (Release clause: £1.5 million)

Wage: £5,000 per week

Altube is the mix for reserve team Real Madrid Castilla, but has been unable to keep a clean sheet in his first four games.

Altube’s strengths lie in his reflexes and reactions (rated as 63 and 62 respectively), which will likely increase as the youngster gains some truly invaluable experience at Real Madrid. Use him in your Career Mode squad successfully and you could see his potential rating exceed it’s 82 ceiling.
