EFL Championship football returns this weekend following the international break with surprise package Reading taking on early strugglers Huddersfield at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

RealSport101's Harry Smith is on hand to provide a comprehensive preview of Saturday's EFL Championship battle, including team news, predicted starting XIs and predictions.

Reading vs Huddersfield Team News

Paul Ince has a decision to make this weekend regarding former England international Andy Carroll. The experienced striker is now fit to start but would have to out Lucas Joao from the starting XI if he's to make his first league start of the season.

Centre-back Naby Sarr has suffered a setback in his recovery from a calf injury and will miss the next few weeks, while Shane Long is also set to miss the visit of Huddersfield on Saturday.

Huddersfield have just two confirmed absentees for the long trip down to Berkshire with summer signing Tyreece Simpson and centre-back Matty Pearson both unavailable for selection.

Mark Fotheringham will step into the dugout for the first time as Terriers boss this weekend. He'll likely opt for the same 4-2-3-1 system that beat Cardiff two weeks ago with the return of winger Sorba Thomas being the most likely change.

Confirmed Absentees

Reading: Naby Sarr, Shane Long, Liam Moore, Scott Dann, Ovie Ejaria, Femi Azeez

Huddersfield: Tyreece Simpson, Matty Pearson

Predicted Lineups

Reading (3-5-2): Lumley; Holmes, Hutchinson, McIntyre; Yiadom, Fornah, Hendrick, Loum, Rahman; Joao, Ince

Huddersfield (4-2-3-1): Nicholls; Turton, Lees, Helik, Nakayama; Kasumu, Camara; Holmes, Rudoni, Thomas; Rhodes

Reading vs Huddersfield Score Prediction

Reading reacted perfectly to their 3-0 defeat at home against Sunderland when they made the trip to the DW Stadium prior to the international break as a Tom Ince free-kick earned the Royals all three points in Lancashire.

Paul Ince's men were tipped for relegation by most in pre-season, but have been the surprise package of the division so far and head into gameweek 11 sat in third place having won four of their opening five league games on home turf.

The same cannot be said for Huddersfield, whose play-off final defeat earlier this year was worsened by the departures of manager Carlos Corberan and star players Harry Toffolo and Lewis O'Brien, both of whom joined Premier League side Nottingham Forest.

A poor start to the season ultimately cost Danny Schofield his job with Mark Fotheringham making the move from Germany to take charge of the Terriers from hereon in. Saturday's visitors sit down in 23rd place having claimed just seven points from their first nine league games.

Score Prediction: Reading 2-0 Huddersfield

Harry Smith's Tip: Home Team Over 1.5 goals
