NBA 2K23: How to Change Affiliation in MyCAREER

NBA 2K23 is here, and MyCAREER once again has things broken up into four key Affiliations across The City.

NBA 2K23: How to Change Affiliation in MyCAREER

When you first start your MyCAREER journey, you won't actually be prompted to select your NBA 2K23 Affiliation.

Instead, the game seems to randomly assign one of the four at MyCAREER creation, as we've confirmed the NBA team you choose to sign with doesn't influence your initially assigned Affiliation.

However, you're not out of luck if you didn't get assigned the group you'd rather call home in The City.

The four Affiliations in The City are located in the four corners of the map, and in order to choose one you'll need to travel to it.

You can Fast Travel from any Subway location across the map to the Station at your Affiliation of choice, and once there you'll want to look for a sign that says "TRANSFER HERE" like seen below.

The exact location varies a bit for each Affiliation, but they're all near the entrance and Fast Travel locations where you'll arrive.

Once you've found it, simply press the button when prompted to put in your Affiliation Transfer Request, at which point you'll be shown the screen below.

Simply select the Affiliation you'd prefer to be assigned to, and after a confirmation prompt that guilts you over "betraying" your current home to pledge loyalty elsewhere, you can submit the request.

Is there any cost to changing Affiliations in MyCAREER?

While you should continue to have the option to change Affiliation at any point in MyCAREER, there's a cost to prevent players from making too many changes.

Last year, you had the option to change Affiliation in MyCAREER only one time in the first week of each Season without penalty.

We're not yet out of Week 1 of Season 1, so we can't yet confirm the impacts in NBA 2K23, but so far you seem to be allowed multiple changes this opening week.

However, once Season 1 is fully underway, that option may go away or include a major cost for a mid-Season change.

There could be a baseline VC cost for changing, and last year it also reset your Player Rep for the season, but we're not sure if that will be the case in NBA 2K23.
