FIFA 23 Pro Clubs is the ultimate battleground for you and your mates to face off against other teams in competitive online play.

Create your own player, level them up, team up with mates and take on other clubs in the most social game mode on the title.

This year, the mode has been refined with some additional features included, which should make it the best experience yet.

Find out everything you need to know about Pro Clubs in FIFA 23 below.

FIFA 23 Pro Clubs

Pro Clubs is an online game mode where you create an avatar, known as a Virtual Pro, then use them in games.

The big difference is that you are only in control of one player, with others being controlled by other team members and/or the computer.

STARTING FROM SCRATCH - Create your Virtual Pro and climb up the divisions

Being in charge of a single player means you need to pull together as a team to work in tandem, otherwise, you can find yourself getting out of shape very easily - especially if the defence is charging all over the place!

You take part in mini-divisions and can get promoted or relegated depending on your results.

The more you play in Pro Clubs the more XP you earn, which you can then use to develop your Virtual Pro.

You can upgrade across different skill trees to improve attributes such as pace, passing and shooting.

SPECIALIST - Gain Perks to get additional abilities

As well as progressing up the skill tree you can improve your player with Perks, which further distinguishes your avatar and makes them unique.

Although the idea behind Pro Clubs is that you only control an individual player, there is also an option where someone on your team can play as an 'Any'.

This means they are in control of their avatar, as well as all the other players in the team that aren't occupied by humans.

Any position that isn't filled by a human avatar will be filled with a computer-generated player from your club, which at lower levels can feel cumbersome, but will improve as your club does.

Reveal Trailer and Deep Dive

The FIFA 23 Pro Clubs Reveal Trailer gave some brand new information regarding this year's game.

Bring more personality than ever before to the pitch with new customisation, improvements to Drop-Ins, new Perks, and more.

If you want to see all the latest features in full detail, check out the deep dive on EA's website right here.

Drop-Ins

The Drop-In feature allows you to squad up with just four friends or recent teammates, prior to searching for a Drop-In match.

You can also play with friends from other clubs without having to leave your club.

To make the mode faster-paced, the Half Length has been reduced to four minutes and matches will proceed to Golden Goal extra time in the event of a draw at the conclusion of 90 mins. Matches will not proceed to penalties at the end of two periods of Golden Goal and instead, the match will end as a draw.

To freshen up the match experience, Drop-In games will now be played in a variety of stadiums, and the teams will wear kits from a selection of new Drop-In designs. These kits and stadiums will rotate to make sure the environment you play in never gets old.

Player Growth

In Pro Clubs, you can play and earn experience (XP) in all matches, except for Practice ones, and you can now also gain Player Growth XP through the new Skill Games.

After negative feedback about levelling up in the game mode, the following improvements have been introduced:

  • The amount of XP required to move from level to level has decreased considerably.
  • The amount of XP required to reach the maximum level has been decreased.
  • The maximum level has been increased from 25 levels to 100.
  • Players can earn a maximum of 185 Skill Points.
  • All Perks will be unlocked through the course of the first 25 levels. Beyond level 25, players will continue to unlock more perk slots, and earn more Skill Points.

In FIFA 23, you will be able to gain Pro Clubs Player Growth XP by playing all VOLTA matches, including Arcades.

Perks

Perks were introduced in FIFA 22 to further refine the way your Virtual Pro plays, and they are split into Attacking, Chance Creation, Defensive and Goalkeeper Perks.

The more you level up, the more perks you will unlock, with the initial 26 joined by four new ones in FIFA 23, which are:

Attacking Perks

  • Poacher - Increases your all-round finishing (including boosts to Volleys, Finishing, and Heading Accuracy) when inside the box.

Chance Creation Perks

  • Light Passes - Increases your teammates’ ability to trap and control your passes.

Defensive Perks

  • Interceptor - Improves your ability to intercept & disrupt your opposition's passes & shots when defending and in close proximity to the ball.
  • Chase Down - Increases your pace when defending immediately following a loss of possession. The perk will deactivate after 40 in-game seconds if you have not regained possession.

Every Virtual Pro starts with one Perk Slot unlocked, and you unlock additional Perk Slots as you level up, allowing you to equip up to three.

Archetypes

Also introduced in FIFA 22 were Archetypes, which give significant attribute increases to your Virtual Pro.

Archetypes are acquired through Skill Points and are made available at the end of a skill tree branch.

You can equip up to three Archetypes, depending on how you decide to allocate your Skill Points.

Team Customisation

Customisation isn't just limited to your Virtual Pro, with many options available for you to make your stadium feel like home in Pro Clubs.

FIFA 22 introduced the same customisations that had been in Ultimate Team, with Club Managers able to make changes to:

  • Kit & Crest
  • Ball
  • Home Stadium
  • Club Nickname (Commentary Name)
  • Tifo
  • Stadium Theme (Banners)
  • Stadium Colour
  • Seat Colour
  • Pitch Line Colour
  • Pitch Wear
  • Pitch Colour
  • Pitch Pattern
  • Net Pattern
  • Net Shape
  • Net Meshing
  • Goal Song
  • Crowd Chants

Female Virtual Pros

FIFA 22 was the first time you were able to play as a woman in Pro Clubs!

Expect to get the same again on FIFA 23, hopefully with even more customisation available for all Virtual Pros.

Cross-play

There was much disappointment when EA announced that cross-play wouldn't be coming to Pro Clubs, and that was addressed at the start of the deep dive with this statement:

Hello everyone, my name is Richard Walz, Game Design Director for Pro Clubs and VOLTA Football. I wanted to start off by speaking to an important topic in the community, cross-play.
I share your desire to see cross-play in Pro Clubs, and understand the frustrations for not seeing it included in the launch of FIFA 23. While we're excited with the first steps to bring new cross-play features to FIFA 23, we also recognize what cross-play functionality could mean to the Pro Clubs mode with the potential for improving matchmaking and allowing friends from different platforms of the same generation to play together.
With the scale of such an important feature, our goal is to bring you the best possible experiences. As we look at our cross-play future, we’re focused on matchmaking in Pro Clubs, VOLTA, and FUT Co-op, as well as cross-platform lobby invites and ultimately cross-platform Pro Clubs.
We’re eager to provide updates in the future as the team continues to execute the plan for the future of cross-play. We love the passion of our community, and you help strengthen our resolve to push the mode forward and to bring quality changes for you to enjoy as players.

It looks like EA will be looking into cross-play for FIFA 23, however, there is no guarantee that it will actually make it into the game.

Post-Match Accolades

New post-match Accolades recognise the top five performers, assigning them for topping statistical categories such as most tackles, furthest distance run, and more to celebrate players for their all-round performance.

Best Player Builds

One of the first things to consider when you load up Pro Clubs is designing your Virtual Pro.

Picking where to spend your points on attributes will obviously change how your Pro plays in-game, but also getting the right height and weight will give different stats.

We've got you covered with top builds for every position, giving you meta players wherever you choose to play.
