FIFA 23 - Has Di Maria been nerfed?

Angel Di Maria was simply outstanding at the 2022 competition in Qatar and was dubbed as the 'silent force behind Argentina’s World Cup success'.

The winger scored a goal and won a penalty in the FIFA World Cup final in Doha against France, which ultimately saw them lift the trophy after a penalty shootout.

The Juventus forward was rewarded with a sensational World Cup Team of the Tournament item in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team via SBC.

Countless players completed the SBC as the card perfectly fits the FUT 23 meta, and it didn't disappoint!

However, Di Maria's owners noticed that the card hadn't been quite up to its usual lofty standards recently.

Amid the confusion surrounding the FUT Centurion downgrades, fans are wondering whether Angel Di Maria's item has been nerfed too...

Has Di Maria been nerfed?

Well, when we look at his stats, the answer is no.

Unlike with the FUT Centurion Team 2 cards, EA has not downgraded the Argentinian's World Cup Team of the Tournament item.

Di Maria's base and in-game stats have remained exactly the same ever since the Squad Building Challenge went live back in December 2022.

However, since Title Update #6 was implemented, his card just does not feel the same in-game.

So, perhaps the reason Di Maria's item no longer feels so overpowered is due to a slight shift in the meta.

We can't quite put our finger on which gameplay adjustments have caused Di Maria's decline in performance, but we know this is the case.
