Will WoW Dragonflight be Cross-Faction?

After nearly 20 years since its initial release, World of Warcraft will have Cross-Faction play.

Thanks to Shadowlands 9.2.5 patch, the Alliance and Horde will be able to set aside their differences in order to participate in a handful of instances together—yes, this includes PvP.

However, since all signs point to this being the final update for the expansion, we can now begin moving forward into the new one coming in the future, Dragonflight.

That begs the question, will Dragonflight have Cross-Faction play?

NEW FEATURE: Cross-Faction play will allow Horde and Alliance players to play together

It will allow players to play with members of the opposite faction via several different instances. These instances include Normal, Heroic, Mythic, and Mythic+ dungeons, raids, rated arena/RBGs, as well as Torghast.

It'll give players looking to play with their longtime opposing faction buddies a chance to do so.

However, not all instanced content will have Cross-Faction as several of the matchmaking activities such as LFR, Normal and Heroic Dungeons, Arena Skirmishes, or Random Battlegrounds will stay within the same faction.

Will WoW Dragonflight be Cross-Faction?

According to a Dexerto interview with WoW Dragonflight Production Director Patrick Dawson, players can expect Cross-Faction play to come in the newest expansion.

“We’re committed to continuing the cross-faction feature throughout our raid and dungeon experience in Dragonflight,” Dawson stated in the interview. “Any dungeon we have will be able to be played in a cross-faction manner.”

Additionally, Dawson explained that it wouldn't be a necessary part of the expansion as much as it's "more of an accessibility feature," elaborating that "it's a freedom thing, not a directive thing."

Cross-Faction support releasing in 9.2.5 gives Blizzard ample amount of time to improve on the newly added feature come Dragonflight's release.
