WoW Shadowlands 9.2.5: All Cross-Faction Instances & How to Group

Coming new to World of Warcraft in patch 9.2.5 is cross-faction support for the first time in the game's history.

This will usher in a new era, one that lets go of the constant faction wars in exchange for a unification of the Horde and the Alliance that allows them to participate in instances together and unite the player base.

But what content will and won't be available for cross-faction play?

Here are all of the instances that now offer cross-faction support in WoW Shadowlands 9.2.5, and how to group up with your former foes.

WoW Shadowlands 9.2.5 Introduces Cross-Faction Play

For the first time since WoW launched, Horde and Alliance members will be able to play together. This has been a highly requested and highly anticipated feature and it's finally here with the 9.2.5 patch.

Cross-faction play will allow for players to directly invite members of the opposite faction to a party if they are friends via BattleTag or Real ID or be in the same WoW community.

A FIRST: This will be the first time players of opposing factions will be able to play together

Once in a group, players will be able to perform any group-related actions. Players in the same party will be able to communicate via party or raid chat, as well as /say or /yell while in close proximity to each other. This also works outside of instanced content, but opposing factions will appear as unfriendly to one another.

Group leaders can also select to restrict the listing to same-faction applications if they so choose.

Players opting into cross-faction will be able to participate in a handful of activities together.

They'll be able to join premade groups in the Group Finder and look for groups doing different content across WoW. The content includes Normal, Heroic, Mythic, and Mythic+ dungeons, raids, rated arena/RBGs, and Torghast, Tower of the Damned.

All players have to do is look for any Premade Group that has any of the instances stated above in the group finder.

What Instances Don't Support Cross-Faction Play?

Even though there are plenty of instances where players can use cross-faction play, there is also a handful of them that will not work.

These are mainly relegated to random matchmaking activities such as LFR, Normal and Heroic Dungeons, Arena Skirmishes, or Random Battlegrounds as these will stay within the same faction.
