PS5 exclusive goes gold ahead of next month's launch

PlayStation gamers are in for a treat as Sony give away the next batch of Play At Home games as well as new that an upcoming PS5 exclusive has gone gold.

Here is the latest PS5 news for March 27th.

Returnal Goes Gold

It has been announced by Housemarque that the upcoming PS5 exclusive, Returnal, has officially gone gold.

For those that don't know, going gold means that the game is in a shippable state and is ready to be sent off for manufacturing.

This indicates there shouldn't be any more delays for the game and it should launch on April 30th as planned.

Here is some information about the game.

"After crash-landing on this shape-shifting world, Selene must search through the barren landscape of an ancient civilization for her escape. Isolated and alone, she finds herself fighting tooth and nail for survival. Again and again, she’s defeated – forced to restart her journey every time she dies.

Through relentless roguelike gameplay, you’ll discover that just as the planet changes with every cycle, so do the items at your disposal. Every loop offers new combinations, forcing you to push your boundaries and approach combat with a different strategy each time.

Brought to life by stunning visual effects, the dark beauty of the decaying world around you is packed with explosive surprises. From high stakes, bullet hell-fuelled combat, to visceral twists and turns through stark and contrasting environments. You’ll explore, discover and fight your way through an unforgiving journey, where mystery stalks your every move.

Designed for extreme replayability, the procedural world of Returnal invites you to dust yourself off in the face of defeat and take on new, evolving challenges with every rebirth."

Play At Home

Starting March 26th, players will be able to download 9 more games as part of Sony's Play At Home initiative.

In addition to the 9 new free games, Ratchet and Clank is still available to all players until April 1st.

Usually Sony gives games away to members of the PS Plus service, but these games are available to everyone with a PS4 or PS5.

The games that are available to download now are;

  • ABZU
  • Enter the Gungeon
  • Rez Infinite
  • Subnautica
  • The Witness
  • Astro Bot Rescue Mission
  • Moss
  • Thumper
  • Paper Beast

Horizon Zero Dawn

The final game to join the program is the smash-hit, Horizon Zero Dawn.

The PS4 blockbuster joins this grouping of jam-packed free PlayStation games, but gamers will have to wait a bit longer before they can get in on the action.

Fortunately, the window to download it for free won't be too small, as players will have from April 19 to May 14 at 8pm PT to claim their free copy of Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition on PlayStation.

PS5 Stock Update

Argos released their latest PS5 drop in the early hours of March 24th, this seems to be when they do it.

Of course, these were quickly snapped up, but it has been revealed that another drop is expected in early April.

One great thing about Argos is, they allow you to collect from your local store, this helps fight scalpers as scalpers won't be able to go into the store and walk out with dozen of them.
