Prequel Comic Announced
The beauty of Marvel's lore is that it can span across many different mediums, with books, comics, games, films and television shows all serving to bolster the story surrounding a certain game.
That looks to be the case once again with Spider-Man 2, with a brand new prequel comic announced as part of free comic book day.
Jon Paquette, writing for PlayStation.Blog, said the following:
When we initially sat down with the team at Marvel, we explored a few different ideas about what kinds of stories we could tell in a prequel comic. But we kept coming back to the same core premise—What if Peter, Miles, and MJ had to team up against a new Super Villain whose powers they didn’t understand? Additionally, we wanted to make sure that we could get a peek into what this heroic trio has been doing since the events of Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. What is Pete up to now that there are two Spider-Men in the city? How is Miles doing in school? And how is MJ’s journalism career going?
This story promises to answer some of the fans' most pressing questions, all the while setting up the mega story that is set to feature in Insomniac's Spider-Man 2.
The confirmed story news so far centres around small details that are presently available.
The story trailer, and subsequent panel, confirmed that Harry Osborne will return and play a key role in the story.
Kraven the Hunter is also said to be the catalyst for the story, with the symbiotic Venom also set to take centre-stage.
The game is also said to follow the lives and struggles of both Peter and Miles, combining to create a Spider-Man story for the ages.
We're not here to provide any spoilers for either Spier-Man (2018) or Spider-Man: Miles Morales, but we are expecting all of the main cast to return for this game.
Peter Parker will likely once again take the lead as the protagonist, building upon the relationships established in the first game.
A more confident Miles will also appear and will likely be playable, giving you the chance to experience the difference in powers of both Spider-Men.
A confirmed villain for the story is Venom, with the symbiotic beast showcased in the initial teaser trailer.
Kraven the Hunter and Lizard are two more Spider-Man foes that have been confirmed to appear in the game.
Norman Osborne continues to feature as the mayor of New York City and we're looking forward to the moment that Green Goblin is unleashed, whether that be in this game or any future instalments.
Norman will also be joined by his son, Harry, who looks to have returned from "Europe" and is ready to once again join forces with Peter.
