FIFA 23 La Liga POTM - Camavinga & De Jong make official February nominees list

The month of February is drawing to a close and that means it's time to assess which La Liga star could win the second Player of the Month (POTM) award of 2023 in FUT 23.

EA has now released an official shortlist of seven players who are nominated for the Player of the Month award from Spain, and you can have your say by voting for your winner.

Take a look below at which players have been nominated for the award this time around and what their POTM cards could look like in FIFA 23 below.

Official nominees revealed

Real Madrid's French sensation Eduardo Camavinga makes this month's list of official nominees alongside fellow central midfielder and title rival Frenkie de Jong.

Four Spanish players are included this time around, with Real Betis talisman Sergio Canales the pick of the bunch.

20-year-old Gabri Veiga is also included in the La Liga POTM nominees and would be set for a giant upgrade on his base FIFA 23 Bronze item should he claim the award.

Former Rennes youngster Eduardo Camavinga has been sensational for Real Madrid this month in the absence of veteran central midfielder Toni Kroos, helping his side secure three wins from four matches in February.

The France international could be given an 86 OVR POTM item that boasts top stats across the board including 89 Dribbling, 87 Passing, 84 Pace, 83 Physicality and 82 Defending.

Frenkie de Jong (OVR 88)

Barcelona sit eight points clear at the top of the La Liga table, having won all four matches that they played in the month of February and it's largely due to Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

The 25-year-old, whose base card is already overpowered in FUT 23, could be bumped up to 88 OVR and given 88 Dribbling, 87 Passing, 83 Pace and 80 Defending.

Sergio Canales (OVR 88)

Real Betis midfielder Sergio Canales is our favourite to win the February La Liga POTM award. The Spaniard registered three goals and a further two assists in four appearances during the period.

Canales is set to be handed a brilliant 88 OVR Player of the Month card that possesses 89 Passing, 88 Pace, 87 Dribbling and 84 Shooting as well as four-star skill moves.

Reinildo (OVR 85)

Atletico Madrid full-back Reinildo played a crucial role in Diego Simeone's side keeping two clean sheets in three league matches in February, helping his team claim seven points from a possible nine.

The Mozambican defender could pick up an 85 OVR POTM item in Ultimate Team that will probably be able to play centre-back too, boasting stats such as 88 Pace, 86 Defending and 84 physicality.

Oihan Sancet (OVR 83)

Whilst he would not be a popular winner among the FUT 23 community, Oihan Sancet most definitely deserves to be among the February nominees.

The Spanish striker netted four goals last month including a superb hattrick against Cadiz. Sancet could be rewarded with a somewhat underwhelming 83 OVR special item with 84 Dribbling, 81 Pace ad 80 Shooting.

Fran Garcia (OVR 83)

Unfortunately for Fran Garcia, his team Rayo Vallecano only managed to win one match in February which significantly hinders his chances of claiming the POTM award despite his excellent performance level.

EA could shock us with a surprise winner, though, and should the 23-year-old left-back win it he could be given an 83 OVR item with a blistering 95 Pace that will be perfect for La Liga squads.

Gabri Veiga (OVR 80)

Celta Vigo centre-mid Gabri Veiga is the only player without a Gold base card in FUT 23 to be nominated this month. Veiga could be bumped up by a whopping 19 overall ratings to take his POTM item to 80 OVR.

Despite his team winning just one match from three in February, the 20-year-old's performances were so eye-catching that EA simply had to include him in the nominees.
