South Korean tennis player Kwon Soon-Woo raised eyebrows with his Wimbledon 2022 first-round performance against World No.1 Novak Djokovic on Monday.
Djokovic entered the 2022 Wimbledon Championships as the heavy favourite to win the Men's Singles titles off the back of a disappointing French Open, but the Serbian was well-matched by the Korean underdog.
We take a look at Kwon Soon-Woo's major career highlights to date as we profile Djokovic's first-round Wimbledon 2022 opponent.
Who is Kwon Soon-Woo?
The 24-year-old South Korean is currently World No.81 and South Korean No.1. Kwon has one singles title to his name having won the 2021 Astana Open, but has largely been an unknown on the elite tennis scene.
Kwon was beaten in four sets by Andriy Rublev in the French Open last month and was beaten in five sets by Denis Shapovalov in the Australian Open, making him no stranger to causing problems for tennis' big names.
Having turned professional in 2015, this match with Djokovic has elevated Kwon into the public discourse.
