The 2022 FIFA World Cup group stage draw has been concluded, with England's path to the knockout stages now clear.

Gareth Southgate's side will be hoping to go one better in Qatar, having reached the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup, before making the final of the 2020 European Championship.

England are the top-seeded nation in Group B, but who will they be coming up against?

Who is in England's World Cup group?

England will come up against some familiar faces in the 2022 World Cup, having been drawn against the USA, who profited from a Rob Green howler when the two sides met at the 2010 World Cup.

They will also face Iran for the very first time, with the Persian Stars making their third consecutive World Cup appearance in Qatar.

The final spot in Group B is yet to be decided with Wales taking on either Scotland or Ukraine in the final of their European play-off campaign in June.

England were paired with Wales in the 2014 European Championships group stage, whilst they met both Scotland (group stage) and Ukraine (quarter-finals) en route to the final of the 2020 European Championships.

When will England play their group stage fixtures?

England will face Iran on the opening day of the FIFA World Cup, before facing the United States and concluding their group stage fixtures with a clash against X.

  • 21st November - England vs Iran
  • 25th November - England vs USA
  • 29th November - England vs Wales, Scotland or Ukraine

The 2022 World Cup is taking place in Qatar in the winter months rather than the usual summer ones, due to the heat.

The tournament kicks off on Monday, 21 November at the Al Bayt stadium in Al Khor with a match that will feature the host country, Qatar.

The final will be played at the Lusail Stadium in Doha a week before Christmas on Sunday, 18 December.’
