Chris Wilder's appointment as Middlesbrough manager was met with widespread optimism from fans given his exploits with Sheffield United.

With limited time, Wilder guided Middlesbrough to the fringes of the top six last season, narrowly missing out on a place in the playoffs in his maiden campaign with the club.

Goals have been hard to come by this term though with a strong summer transfer window not matched by on-field performances.
