Chris Wilder's time as Middlesbrough manager has come to an end following a dismal start to the 2022/23 Championship season.

Wilder led Sheffield United to the Premier League and then to a top-half finish during his time at Bramall Lane, but his stint on Teesside has not gone to plan.

Chairman Steve Gibson will now look for a new manager with Middlesbrough occupying a place in the relegation zone heading into gameweek 12.

With the board's quest for a new head coach already underway, RealSport101's Harry Smith is on hand to give you the latest odds to replace Chris Wilder as Middlesbrough manager.

Wilder's Middlesbrough departure: As it happened

Chris Wilder's appointment as Middlesbrough manager was met with widespread optimism from fans given his exploits with Sheffield United.

With limited time, Wilder guided Middlesbrough to the fringes of the top six last season, narrowly missing out on a place in the playoffs in his maiden campaign with the club.

Goals have been hard to come by this term though with a strong summer transfer window not matched by on-field performances.

Middlesbrough are currently sat down in 22nd place with only Huddersfield and Coventry keeping them off the bottom, with the latter putting the final nail in Wilder's Boro coffin.
