The January Transfer Window is hotting up, with a number of clubs looking to strengthen their squads ahead of the second half of the season.

The World Cup has no doubt also had an impact, with some breakout stars firmly on the radar of many top European sides.

Check below for the latest info from the first week of what promises to be a major month in the world of football.

January Transfer Window Update 1st-6th

This week has been quiet when it comes to confirmed signings, but it's been rife with speculation, as teams look to make necessary additions to either boost promotion hopes, stave off relegation fears, or make a charge up the table.

Major Done Deals -

Manchester United are the first Premier League side to confirm a major deal, with Crystal Palace 'Keeper Jack Butland arriving on loan at Old Trafford.

Chelsea have also added to their squad, with Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile arriving for a fee of around £35 Million.

Leeds and Brentford have also added to their squads, with Max Wober of RB Salzburg joining Jesse Marsch and Kevin Schade of Freiburg arriving in London to play under Tomas Frank.

Speculation -

Marca is reporting that Real Madrid are growing in confidence in their pursuit of Jude Bellingham, with the Spanish champions hoping to stave off strong interest from Liverpool.

Southampton will look to soothe their relegation fears by adding a centre-back to their ranks, with Michael Keane of Everton said to be a prime target, according to the Athletic.

Representatives of Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk were in London to witness Chelsea's narrow defeat to Manchester City, with Blues and Arsenal target Mykhaylo Mudryk the topic of conversation.

Ben Jacobs is reporting that Chelsea will also move for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo this month, with the south coast club said to want £70-75 Million to secure his services.

Manchester United are in prime position to sign Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix on loan for the rest of the season, with the Spanish club said to be demanding a loan fee between 12-13 Million Euros.

Finally, it's being reported by 90Min that Manchester United are also exploring a deal for Ajax and World Cup breakout star Mohammed Kudus, with the versatile attacking threat said to be seen as a natural replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
