The BMX and skate community has crossovered yet again as a Vans x Mongoose collection has been unveiled alongside designer Our Legends for a release.
The footwear and apparel capsule features three Authentic colourways inspired by Mongoose’s rich history as innovators in BMX and action sports as well as some of the best Vans from the past.
However, these aren't the only Authentics in the pipeline, as Salehe Bembury's Spunge label has also debuted its own three-piece sneaker collection featuring colourful fingerprint-like patterns not unlike the colourful Authentics seen in this Mongoose collection.
That said, we're focusing our attention solely on the Vans x Mongoose range in this article. So, without further delay, here's everything we know about the collection's release so far...
Vans x Mongoose Presented By Our Legends Authentics Release Date
Vans droplist confirms the collection is available to buy now as of 12 August 2022 in the US.
This was also confirmed by Mongoose, who goes on to state that the entire capsule has debuted globally, which includes two accompanying Mongoose long-sleeve tees and one crew fleece.
Vans x Mongoose Presented By Our Legends Authentics Design
As mentioned, three new Vans Authentic colourways have been revealed as part of the Mongoose collaboration presented by Our Legends.
The first is this black Authentic 44 DX inspired by the style of bike stickers and graphics from Mongoose in the '70s which had orange and yellow rainbow colouring with black branding and reflective details.
This inspiration can be found inside the shoes as they feature a warm orange, yellow, and red checkerboard pattern to completely contrast their black exterior.
Next up is this two-tone turquoise and pink checkerboard design with white laces, midsoles, and panelling towards the heels.
Mongoose describe the aesthetic as a loose reissue of colours used in the past as part of the brand's advertisements, thus making a direct reference to their extreme sports history.
The final design sees Mongoose use colours that tie into the Americana jerseys that the Mongoose BMX race team wore in the '80s.
This means the sneakers come with a bold red and blue checkerboard pattern with the brand’s animated mascot, Maurice, on the sidewalls to complete the retro aesthetic.
Vans x Mongoose Presented By Our Legends Authentics Price
Mongoose has announced that all three Authentic colourways will retail for $105 in adult sizing.
This is actually a touch more expensive than the usual retail price of a pair of Authentics, although this is most likely down to them being a part of a special edition collaborative collection.
