Slack is used by workplaces across the globe, including ours, so it's pretty frustrating when it goes down and you have to find a different way to talk to colleagues. Slack is DOWN today, on October 1 and we have the latest updates on its status for you.

Latest - Connection Will Take a While to Stabilize

Slack says that stability is beginning to roll out to everyone, following the issues that began last night.

They say that reloading Slack might fix it for some people, but it'll take up to later this afternoon for the fix to work for everyone.

The Slack DNS issues started at around 5pm ET/10pm BST on September 30, and are set to take 24 hours to fix.

Slack is currently down for a lot of users worldwide. The issues aren't affecting everyone, but users have been reporting the inability to connect and other problems for a few hours.

Below is the tweet from @Slack Status, which explains the route of the problem and when it might be fixed.

We are aware of connectivity issues related to DNS that are impacting a small sub set of users. This issue was caused by our own change and not related to any third-party DNS software and services.
In order to resolve this faster, your ISP (Internet Service Provider) will need to flush their DNS record for http://slack.com. Please reach out to your networking team to provide them with this information.
We expect all customers’ connectivity issues to be resolved within the next 12 hours. We know how important it is for people to stay connected and we apologize for this disruption. We’ll share another update when the issue is resolved.
We incorrectly stated this issue is expected to be resolved within 12 hours, when in fact it’s expected to be resolved within the next 24 hours. We’re very sorry for the incorrect information shared and for the continued trouble due to this issue.

For now, there's not a lot you can do about it. You can try closing and reloading Slack, as that's solved the issues for some, but otherwise you'll just have to wait it out and hope that they're solved quickly on Slack's end.
