BLIZZCONLINE - Here's when we can expect some announcements

Better yet, unlike before, BlizzCon 2021 will be free to watch and engage in!

With the Covid-19 pandemic limiting large gatherings and international travel, this decision will open the door to countless more fans.

It is undoubtedly a good decision by Blizzard, but could it sign-post that a major announcement is coming?

Overwatch 2 Announcement?

It's been a long time since we got any news about Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 was first announced in November 2019 and since then we have heard almost nothing about the game from Blizzard.

Could BlizzCon 2021 be the perfect time for Blizzard to drop some new information?

Fans are hungry for more Overwatch content with there continual talks within the community surrounding the "life" of the title.

It seems the competitive scene has been in decline, according to some and there isn't enough change to satisfy others.

Overwatch is still going strong though with Seasonal Events, regular competitive seasons, and a steady flow of patches.

This is no surprise though when, if you look back to the Overwatch 2 announcement, Blizzard announced Overwatch would receive any additional online content that Overwatch 2 contains at no extra cost.

World of Warcraft?

World of Warcraft is Blizzard's other major IP and they have recently released the Shadowlands expansion.

This doesn't mean we shouldn't expect to hear some more about WoW, though. It's still going strong and has a solid player base.

Blizzard recently released a balancing update for World of Warcraft Shadowlands, with a number of key buffs for several classes.

What would you like to see from World of Warcraft at BlizzCon 2021?

Diablo 4?

Diablo 4 is an upcoming action-RPG being developed by Blizzard.

It's been roughly nine years since Diablo 3 was released and fans have been hungry for information ever since.

Currently, all we know is that the next game will follow the same isometric-styled gameplay as it's predecessor.

In addition to this, we know that Lillith, the daughter of Mephisto, will play a big part.

With the Xbox Series X|S and Playstation 5 now out, we could see Diablo 4 make an appearance at BlizzCon 2021.

Community Showcase

One of the major events Blizzard is planning for BlizzCon 2021 is a virtual Community Showcase.

This is being pitched as "an opportunity for cosplay crafters, artists, and other community creators to participate in the show".

In reality, the virtual Community Showcase will take place via an assortment of competitions and exhibitions throughout the two-day event.

Below is the official list of events:

  • Cosplay Exhibition
  • Cosplay Contest

  • Talent Spotlight

Everything Else

The March of the Murlocs is the other major event that will be taking place as a part of the BlizzCon 2021 virtual convention.

In this, participants are being asked to film a short video of themselves walking, marching, or dancing, while dressed up as a Murloc!
