Possibly the most popular game mode on EA’s Madden NFL 17 is its Franchise Mode, but after a while you may get bored of playing with the same old teams every year. Well for the past few years there has been a fix for that: Relocation. When you are playing as the owner in Franchise Mode you have the ability to relocate your team to one of 18 cities around the USA and the world. One of those cities is Dublin, the capital city of the Republic of Ireland. Here is a complete guide to all of the uniforms, team names, logos and stadiums available if you move your team to Dublin.
Having selected Dublin on the city selection stage you will then have the chance to pick your teams branding. This is the logo your team will have, the name and the color scheme. You will have four options.
One of the options is to retain your original branding from before you relocated. This means you will keep the same team name, the same logo and all of the same uniforms.
The first Dublin specific team is the Celtic Tigers. The Celts were the early inhabitants of Ireland so this harkens back to them and is a pretty good choice if you’re looking for a authentic Irish team name.
The second Dublin specific option is the Antlers. This has no obvious relevance to Dublin but it is something different and the logo is pretty cool in my opinion.
The third and final Dublin specific option is the most obviously Irish option. The Shamrock is the Irish symbol for luck and is associated with Ireland above anything else. Will it bring you good luck if you pick this authentic logo?
Once you have picked your new branding you will get to choose new uniforms to complete your teams new look.
If I’m honest I’m not a huge fan of any of the options. If I had to choose I would say the Celtic Tigers have the three nicest options and their 3rd uniform is the nicest, but I don’t mine the Shamrocks style #2 either, the orange is a nice touch.
Having picked a new set of uniforms you no get to choose your new stadium. You will be given a choice of 5 designs of stadium: Canopy, Futuristic, Hybrid, Sphere or Traditional. Each design of stadium then has two options: Basic or Deluxe. The Basic stadiums have Level 2 (of 5) facilities (Seating, Car Park, Toilets, Merchandise, Fan Zone, Food) and the Deluxe Stadiums have Level 5 facilities. Apart from that level difference the stadiums look the same. Nevertheless, here is all the information you need about all of the stadium options in Houston.
| ||Stadium Type||Number of Seats||Number of Suites||Total Cost ($)||Weekly Cost ($)||Stadium Funding |
|Basic||66,000||2500||0.75 Billion||1.06 Million||30%|
|Deluxe||66,000||4000||1 Billion||1.55 Million||22%|
|Basic||70,000||2500||0.85 Billion||1.26 Million||26%|
|Deluxe||70,000||5000||1.35 Billion||2.25 Million||16%|
|Basic||67,000||3000||0.80 Billion||1.16 Million||28%|
|Deluxe||67,000||4500||1 Billion||1.55 Million||22%|
|Basic||69,000||2000||0.70 Billion||0.96 Million||32%|
|Deluxe||69,000||4500||1.15 Billion||1.85 Million||19%|
|Basic||72,000||2500||0.71 Billion||0.98 Million||31%|
|Deluxe||72,000||6000||1.18 Billion||1.9 Million||19%|
As you can see, moving to Dublin is going to require you having quite a lot of funds before you get started on the relocation. You do not get that much help in the way of funding so I definitely suggest waiting a few seasons before making the move to Dublin or you could find yourself in serious financial trouble.
Overall, I can’t say that I see Dublin as a very good relocation destination in Madden. Not only is it very expensive and a small market, limiting your future income, I don’t think it has the best team branding options nor very many nice uniform options. Though all three Dublin teams would bring a pretty cool change to the NFL.
