Madden 23: Best Team for every position in Face of the Franchise

Madden 23 Face of the Franchise changes things up in a big way this year, and new challenges mean new decisions.

We've got details on which teams are best for your Madden 23 career mode journey in Face of the Franchise: The League by position.

Madden 23: Best Team to pick in Face of the Franchise

While last year's Face of the Franchise journey started players off in college as their NFL career was just beginning, Madden 23 has changed that entirely.

This year, Face of the Franchise: The League drops players into the start of their fifth year with the option to sign a one-year "prove it" deal with any team.

This is the first big decision you'll make, and choosing the right spot can have a big impact on how quickly you progress and the difficulty you face.

In addition to your choice impacting where you'll be fighting for a spot on the depth chart, some teams offer better contracts with more Cred and Rep earned at signing and per game.

BALLIN: Signing with a team in need means significantly more Cred and Rep

If you're looking to level up quickly, picking a location with major Rep bonuses is best, as this will help you level up your position and pursue the 99 Club.

However, keep in mind that the tradeoff of choosing teams with these bonuses is they typically are teams with worse rosters that will have less talent around you to help.

With team needs and scheme fit playing into these decisions, we're gonna break it down here according to each of the five Face of the Franchise positions.

It's worth noting that scheme fit could vary player to player, as the new build system offers a lot more variety, but in our testing scheme fits didn't change when using an Agile LB vs Bruiser LB, and so on.

Best Quarterback Team in FOTF

The favorite of most players for obvious reasons, quarterback is one of the fastest positions to level up because some teams have truly dire need of a good QB.

If you want the best chance of starting right away in addition to the top valued offers, you'll want to choose from these teams:

  • Indianapolis Colts
  • Seattle Seahawks
  • Pittsburgh Steelers
  • Minnesota Vikings (BEST)

Of these four, the Indianapolis Colts have the highest Team Overall, but the Vikings have the higher Offense Rating among them.

Being in Minnesota also means you'll have both a running back (Dalvin Cook) and wide receiver (Justin Jefferson) with Superstar X-Factor abilities.

Best Wide Receiver Team in FOTF

Choosing a team can feel most difficult at wide receiver because of the fact that position need is very similar across all teams.

With a combination of the best contract terms at WR and a good quarterback that's delivering the ball to you, here are the top options for a wideout:

  • Baltimore Ravens
  • Green Bay Packers
  • Kansas City Chiefs (BEST)

All three of these teams offer top-notch QBs and a C or C- in position need, but only the Chiefs and Ravens show a scheme fit.

Of these, we suggest the Chiefs most of all because it offers both a scheme fit and a top three QB in Patrick Mahomes.

Best Halfback (Running Back) Team in FOTF

With a good running back (or halfback, as EA insists) can be foundational for even a struggling team, and you're likely to be a workhorse as one in FOTF.

With the potential value of good run blocking on the line in mind, here are the top options for your RB (HB) in Madden 23:

  • Houston Texans
  • New York Jets
  • San Francisco 49ers (BEST)

This is a challenging one, as the Texans have the most position need and scheme fit but simultaneously have one of the worst offenses in the league.

The Jets have a similarly struggling team and solid positional need, but they've got better run blocking on the line than the Texans.

The best of all worlds is gonna be the San Francisco 49ers who have the top tier contract bonuses available along with 99 Club member Trent Williams at left tackle with the best run blocking for a lineman in Madden 23.

Best Linebacker Team in FOTF

Having extra help on defense can make a big difference, so keep in mind that some of the teams with less enticing offers may be easier to play in at linebacker.

However, there are three teams with top-notch bonuses and one is a definite winner for your LB:

  • Chicago Bears
  • Houston Texans
  • Carolina Panthers (BEST)

All three of these teams have equal position need (and no others offer the top-tier bonuses for a LB), but only the Panthers and Bears show a scheme fit at linebacker.

Among those, the Carolina Panthers have higher team ratings on both offense and defense which makes them the best of both worlds here.

Best Cornerback Team in FOTF

Lastly we have the ball hawks at cornerback, and there are several teams which balance out offering solid bonuses for this position.

However, having more defensive help can really make a cornerback thrive, so overall defense factors heavily into the best team for your LB in Face of the Franchise:

  • Washington Commanders
  • Arizona Cardinals
  • Pittsburgh Steelers (BEST)

Going with the Washington Commanders has decent position need and scheme fit, but they're middle of the road on overall defense rating.

You'll likely start quickest with the Arizona Cardinals as their need is highest across the league, but that's because they're a bottom 10 defense.

The sweet spot at CB is going to be the Steelers, as you'll have solid C- position need, scheme fit, and be ready to go with the fourth best defense in Madden 23.
