There's no shame in wanting to turn off voice chat options in GTA Online - frankly, it's a much more enjoyable experience when you don't have several tens of people shouting in your ear.

If you want to remove this additional stress, all you need to do is open up the Interaction Menu by pressing the following buttons:

  • PlayStation - Touchpad button
  • Xbox - View Button
  • PC - M key

From here, all you need to do is scroll down the menu to the "Voice Chat" option and select which players you'll be able to hear. The "No One" option is the one that's going to completely turn off voice chat in GTA Online. You can also "Toggle Mute" for specific players in the "Players" tab of the pause menu - should you find one player a particular nuisance!

STAY SILENT - Sometimes you just want to play in peace and quiet!

If you're just looking for a quick-fire temporary fix, something that you don't need to mess about with GTA Online's menus with, all you need to do is create a party on either Xbox or PlayStation and sit in there on your own.

This will isolate your voice chat audio to the party's chat and if you're the only one in the party, there's going to be no one shouting in your ear! It might be worth making this invite-only, though, so no one can disturb your peace.
