What Is The Best Childe Build In Genshin Impact?

Childe is back for a second run in Genshin Impact 1.4!

Tartaglia, also known as Childe, is number 11 of the Eleven Harbingers of the Fatui.

A dangerous opponent, he cares little for the subterfuge of the other Harbingers, revelling in direct conflict and new challenges.

An odd-man-out amongst the Fatui, Childe does not enjoy hurting innocents and enjoys being a part of the community he has infiltrated.

Even though they are on opposite sides, Childe has great respect for the Traveler, considering them a close friend.

CHILDE: Players have a 2nd chance to pull him or unlock constellations

The Heart of Depth set is practically made for Childe, with the 2-piece set giving him a 15% Hydro DMG bonus and the 4-piece set increasing both his Normal Attack and Charged Attack DMG by 30% for 15 seconds after using his Elemental Skill.

Using a 2-piece Heart of Depth set along with a 2-piece Noblesse Oblige set (Elemental Burst DMG +20%) also works for players who do not have enough Heart of Depth artifacts to get the 4-piece bonus.

When choosing artifacts, players should focus on ATK%, Hydro DMG, and CRIT Rate.

FLEXIBLE: Along with a bow, Childe can use his Elemental Skill to create a melee weapon out of pure water

The absolute best bow for Childe is currently the 5-Star Skyward Harp.

Only available through Genshin Impact's Wish system, the Skyward Harp has the following stats at Level 1.

  • Base ATK: 48
  • Secondary Stat Type: CRIT Rate
  • Secondary Stat: 4.8%
  • Ability: Echoing Ballad - Increases CRIT DMG by 20%. Hits have a 60% chance to inflict a small AoE attack, dealing 125% Physical ATK DMG. Can only occur once every 4s.

When refined to Level 5, Echoing Ballad becomes: "Increases CRIT DMG by 40%. Hits have a 100% chance to inflict a small AoE attack, dealing 125% Physical ATK DMG. Can only occur once every 2s."

At Level 90, the Skyward Harp's stats are as follows:

  • Base ATK: 674
  • Secondary Stat Type: CRIT Rate
  • Secondary Stat: 22.1%

A 4-Star alternative to the Skyward Harp is Rust, though this bow is only available through the Wish system.

Rust's stats at Level 1 are as follows:

  • Base ATK: 42
  • Secondary Stat Type: ATK
  • Secondary Stat: 9%
  • Ability: Rapid Firing - Increases Normal Attack DMG by 40% but decreases Charged Attack DMG by 10%.

When refined to Level 5, Rapid Firing's Normal Attack DMG bonus raises to 80%.

At Level 90, Rust has the following stats:

  • Base ATK: 510
  • Secondary Stat Type: ATK
  • Secondary Stat: 41.3%

Childe Best Teammates

Genshin Impact's Hu Tao

HU TAO: Qiqi may want to punch her in the face, but she's still useful

Childe is the Main DPS, so focusing on his damage output is key.

Unfortunately, his Elemental Skill cooldown is high, so having other damage dealers in the party is a must.

Hu Tao and Ganyu are both excellent choices, giving players two Sub DPS characters to not only deal damage while waiting for Childe's CD but also providing Pyro and Cryo Elemental Reactions.

As with many good team compositions, Bennett provides healing and ATK buffs.

Having two Pyro characters in the party provides an additional ATK boost from their Elemental Resonance.

For players who may not have Hu Tao or Ganyu, they can be swapped out for Xiangling, Kaeya, or Fischl in any combination.

Xianling's Elemental Burst is excellent for Vaporizing multiple foes at once.

Kaeya's Cryo freezes Wet enemies.

Fischl's use of Oz electrically charges foes for multiple triggers.

Bennett can be swapped with Diona or Qiqi, with Diona adding shields to the party or Qiqi providing constant healing.

Are His Constellations Good?

WHALE: A common term for players who spend lots of money on F2P games
  • Foul Legacy: Tide Withholder - Constellation Level 1
    • Decrease the CD of Foul Legacy: Raging Tide by 20%
  • Foul Legacy: Understream - Constellation Level 2
    • When opponents affected by Riptide are defeated. Tartaglia regenerates 4 Elemental Energy.
  • Abyssal Mayhem: Vortex of Turmoil - Constellation Level 3
    • Increases the Level of Foul Legacy: Raging Tide by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15.
  • Abyssal Mayhem: Hydrosprout - Constellation Level 4
    • If Tartaglia is in Foul Legacy: Raging Tide's Melee Stance, triggers Riptide Slash against opponents on the field affected by Riptide every 4s, otherwise, triggers Riptide Flash.
    • Riptide Slashes and Riptide Flashes triggered by this Constellation effect are not subject to the time intervals that would typically apply to these two Riptide effects, nor do they have any effects on those time intervals.
  • Havoc: Formless Blade - Constellation Level 5
    • Increases the level of Havoc: Obliteration by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15.
  • Havoc: Annihilation - Constellation Level 6
    • When Havoc: Obliteration is cast in Melee stance, the CD of Foul Legacy: Raging Tide is reset. This effect will only take place once Tartaglia returns to his Ranged Stance.

Most of Childe's constellations deal with his Melee stance activated by using Foul Legacy: Raging Tide.

The first constellation is excellent, lowering his Elemental Skill's cooldown by 20%, allowing Childe to enter his Melee stance more often.

Each increasing constellation just serves to make his Melee stance more powerful, recharging his Elemental Energy, boosting damage, and completely resetting the CD of Foul Legacy: Raging Tide if Havoc: Obliteration is cast.

While Childe has been knocked down a bit as a major Main DPS by characters such as Ganyu, he remains a force to be reckoned with.

His focus on Hyrdo DMG pairs well with many other characters to inflict Elemental Reactions. His flexibility to switch from ranged to melee is currently something only he can do.

Will this rerun of Childe's banner bring him back into the spotlight?
