Fortnite has made some important changes recently. With Tilted Towers making a comeback and some new items coming out of the vault, you may have missed the return of the grenade launcher. Here's how to get your hands on one.
What is the Fortnite Grenade Launcher?
The Fortnite Grenade Launcher is perhaps one of the most destructive weapons you can find in the game. If you're looking to take out an enemy base quickly, this is a great weapon for you to try out.
It was originally vaulted in update 11.0 to save space in the game. It wasn't a hugely popular weapon and the team thought it wasn't worth using anymore.
When something is vaulted, that essentially means that it will no longer be included in the game. Now that it's out, there have been a few major changes.
How to get the Fortnite Grenade Launcher
In the page announcing the unvaulting of the Grenade Launcher, the team say:
The Grenade Launcher is back and we've made some tweaks to its responsiveness! Projectiles now explode after their first bounce and fire more directly at your target.
You can find Grenade Launchers from Rare Chests, Supply Drops, and… sharks.
While it's rather easy to find rare chests and supply drops, sharks are a bit of an odd place to find the grenade launcher. This could possibly be a reference to the classic movie Jaws, in which (spoilers ahead) the titular shark dies from an explosion caused by a scuba tank.
To kill a shark, find a body of water and fire away at them until they die. They are quite tough so you have to determine if it's worth the wait for the launcher. Try it out for yourself and make up your own mind.
