Team of the Week 37 (TOTW) predictions

Domestic action in Europe may be over, but there were still some top performers from around the globe who could sneak a TOTW place on FIFA 18.

Alas, the domestic season has come to an end. The Champions League final marked the climax for European football at the weekend, and with plenty of drama.

Unfortunately, Champions League fixtures do not count towards the Team of the Week on FIFA 18, but two-goal Gareth Bale did receive a 94-rated European Man of the Match card for his efforts in Saturday’s final.

So, for the Team of the Week this time around we are looking at ties from the Football League Play Offs, MLS and international friendlies.

TOTW 37 will be released at 6pm BST on Wednesday, 30 May, consisting of the 23 best performers from the past week. You can challenge the squad for a coin boost in Ultimate Team, find the players in packs in the FUT store or buy and sell them on the transfer market.

We predict who could get in the starting line-up this week.

Jesse Gonzalez (OVR 68 – IF 76)

We begin in the MLS, with FC Dallas goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez. The American kept a clean sheet in the 1-0 win over heavyweights Toronto, saving a vital penalty from star man Sebastian Giovinco.

Gonzalez’s performance should take his 68 overall rating to 76 this week, and you can pick up the goalie’s silver base card for 900 coins on PS4 and over 1,000 on Xbox One in Ultimate Team.

Jack Grimmer (OVR 66 – IF 76)

Coventry won promotion in the League Two Play Off final with a superb display in the 3-1 victory over Exeter. Right back Jack Grimmer sealed the victory with just over 20 minutes to play, putting the Sky Blues 3-0 up and duly sending them up to League One.

Grimmer’s showing at Wembley could take his 66 overall rating to 76, with his base card priced at 200 coins on PS4 and 800 on Xbox One.

Walker Zimmerman (OVR 73 – IF 79)

It’s a new era for the USMNT, with the Stars and Stripes beginning a four-year cycle to the next World Cup. After missing out on Russia, interim coach Dave Sarachan gave youth a chance in the 3-0 victory over Bolivia, with centre back Walker Zimmerman getting on the scoresheet.

That goal should see Zimmerman make the Team of the Week, where his 73 overall rating could rise to 79. The LAFC man costs 750 coins on PS4 and 85 on Xbox One in Ultimate Team.

Richard Wood (OVR 64 – IF 80)

One of the week’s finest performers has to be Richard Wood. The centre back scored twice in the League One Play Off final to send Rotherham up into the Championship. Wood first headed in a corner before sliding home a free kick in extra time to defeat Shrewsbury.

Wood is an absolute shoo-in for the Team of the Week, and we expect his 64 overall rating to increase to 80. The defender’s base card is priced at 500 coins on PS4 and upwards of 2,000 on Xbox One.

Cristian Techera (OVR 69 – IF 81)

Back to the MLS, and it was Cristian Techera taking the headlines. The Vancouver Whitecaps right midfielder netted a hat trick in a thrilling 3-3 draw with New England Revolution. The Whitecaps sit sixth in the Eastern Conference, while Revolution lie in the same position in the West.

Techera's three goals will increase his 69 overall rating up to around 81, and the Uruguayan’s silver card is valued at 300 coins on PS4 and 650 on Xbox One.

Tomas Martinez (OVR 67 – IF 76)

Tomas Martinez scored in Houston Dynamo’s 3-1 victory over New York City to lift his side to fifth in the Western Conference. The victory pegged NYC back in the Eastern Conference to third and takes Dynamo’s unbeaten run to four games.

Martinez’s strike should see his 67 overall rating improve to 76 this week. You can claim the Argentine’s base card for just 600 coins on both consoles.

Tom Cairney (OVR 77 – HERO 81)

Tom Cairney fired Fulham back into the Premier League with the crucial goal in the 1-0 win over Aston Villa in the Championship Play Off final. The victory returns the Cottagers to the top flight after a four-year absence, with Cairney being named Man of the Match at Wembley.

We expect Cairney’s 77 overall to be increased to the 81 Hero card he received after the result on Saturday. The central midfielder’s base card costs 700 coins on PS4 and 1,700 on Xbox One, with his Hero card priced at 15,000 on both consoles. His 87 EFL Team of the Season item will set you back 50,000 coins on PS4 and 53,000 on Xbox One.

Joe Newell (OVR 66 – IF 78)

Richard Wood may have got both goals in Rotherham League One Play Off final win over Shrewsbury, but it was Joe Newell’s wicked deliveries that set up the goals. Rotherham deserved the win, but despite creating the better chances and having a penalty saved, they had to turn to set-pieces to get them over the line at Wembley.

Newell’s 66 overall rating deserves to increase to 78 this week, and with his base card costing 400 coins on PS4 and as much as 1,000 on Xbox One.

Cenk Tosun (OVR 80 – SIF 85)

Turkey missed out on qualification for the World Cup and picking up a victory over the qualified Iran this week will give them confidence, but also make them wonder what might have been. Everton forward Cenk Tosun scored both goals in the victory, something he will look to take into the Premier League next season.

Tosun’s 80 overall should improve to at least 85 this week given his previous in-form item. His base card will set you back 900 coins on PS4 and 1,100 on Xbox One, whilst the European Team of the Group Stage he secured at Besiktas costs 11,000 on both consoles. The forward’s 84 in-form card is priced at 14,250 on PS4 and 16,000 on Xbox One, with his Ones To Watch item costing 15,750 on PS4 and 20,000 on Xbox One.

Samuel Armenteros (OVR 74 – IF 80)

Samuel Armenteros scored twice in Portland Timbers’ 3-2 victory over Colorado Rapids. Portland are sitting in third in the Western Conference, but with a game in hand over second-placed LAFC and two over top of the table Sporting Kansas City.

Armenteros’s brace should take his 74 overall to 80, and you can pick up his base card for 700 coins on PS4 and upwards of 1,000 on Xbox One.

Sebastian Blanco (OVR 75 – IF 79)

Staying with Portland Timbers, Sebastian Blanco grabbed two assists in the 3-2 win. It’s been a promising season so far for the midfielder, picking up five goals and four assists in the opening 11 games of the MLS campaign.

Blanco’s 75 overall is likely to increase to around 79 this week, and we also expect his left midfielder position to move to left forward. You can claim his Ultimate Team card for 800 coins on PS4 and 1,900 on Xbox One.
