With the latest game finally arriving, the WWE 2K22 Showcase turns the spotlight to legendary luchador Rey Mysterio from his WCW run all the way to the arrival of his son Dominik Mysterio.

With this WWE 2K22 Showcase Guide, you'll be able to pick and choose which rewards to go for first as you slowly snag all of the game's unlockables.

WWE 2K22 modders have been hard at work digging into the game's source code, and the latest revelation is that an NJPW legend was slated to kick off the Showcase with Rey Mysterio.

We've got details on how a cancelled Showcase match in WWE 2K22 turned into special edition content once the game was finally released.

WWE 2K22 Showcase Guide: Tips for 2K Showcase with Rey Mysterio

If you haven't played a 2K Showcase before, the WWE 2K22 Showcase isn't too far off in overall style, and that often means very specific match objectives.

These specific objectives in each match line up with the way those real-life matches actually went, and you'll find most of the matches have multiple cutscenes spliced in mixing match footage with more Rey Mysterio interview clips.

As enjoyable at these can be, there's no harm in skipping these if you're trying to rush through the mode and want to unlock something quickly.

If you decide at a later time that you wanted to watch those videos, you can tap X or Square while on the 2K Showcase menu to view the Video Library which even has a Continuous Play option if you want to watch them all back to back.

Another good thing if you're looking to unlock something specific is that there is no requirement to do the WWE 2K22 Showcase in order, and you're free to start anywhere you want on the timeline.

However, the final match in Showcase is only available after successfully completing all objectives for the rest of the matches.

When you're playing through the 2K Showcase, we recommend striving to hit every single objective and not settling for a win without one.

While this is challenging, you can lower the mode's difficulty if needed, and missing one will require you to go back through the full match anyways with a proper full objective run to get the rest of the rewards.

If you're struggling with any objective, don't forget to press Start and open the Pause Menu, as it will usually tell you the button combinations needed from the WWE 2K22 Controls.

If you're having trouble hitting something and your opponent keeps reversing it, use a flurry of light attacks to get them into the Stunned state before trying that objective again.

The third match in this year's 2K Showcase represents a tough night for wrestling history as it is from the Eddie Guerrero Tribute Show episode of WWE Raw on November 14, 2005 when Rey Mysterio and Shawn Michaels aimed to honor his legacy by putting on an instant classic.

The eleventh match in the WWE 2K22 Showcase is from the September 9, 2019 episode of WWE Raw and sees Rey Mysterio up against Gran Metalik, a lucha legend of the new era who has competed outside of WWE as Máscara Dorada both prior to his tenure with the company and since being released.

The twelfth and final match in the 2K Showcase can only be played after completing all objectives from the other eleven, and this one features the tag team match from WWE Payback on August 30, 2020 where Rey Mysterio teamed with his son Dominik to take on the duo of Seth Rollins and Murphy.
