Shadowlands 9.2 RWF: Liquid strikes first in World First Race

North America's Liquid has struck first in World of Warcraft's Race to World First after taking down four Mythic bosses in Sepulcher of the First Ones!

Although they weren't the first ones to take down a mythic boss, the two-time champions have finally begun their stride taking down four Mythic bosses in a row in less than a day, and lapping the competition in the process.

Liquid takes the lead in the Race to World First

Even though Mythic Sepulcher of the First Ones was released this week, Liquid, and other guilds, didn't step foot into the difficulty until Wednesday, the day after reset. This resulted in an unusual lull in which no guild took down any Mythic bosses.

That was until another US guild, The Early Shift, came in and surprisingly took World First Vigilant Guardian. The non-World First contender took 56 pulls to take down Sepulcher of the First Ones' first boss. Prior to the raid's release, the guild had been ranked in the near 400s in the US and the 1000s in the World for previous tiers.

But that's where Liquid finally came in. After hours of spamming specific Normal bosses utilizing crowdsourcing as a form of getting all of their raiders their tier gear, the two-time World First champions began the race by taking down four Mythic Sepulcher of the First Ones bosses in a few hours and a fifth boss on the following day.

Up first was Vigilant Guardian, the boss that The Early Shift took down as World First. Instead of a 56-pull venture, Liquid defeated it in three. They utilized a melee-heavy composition that only brought three ranged: a Frost Mage, a Destruction Warlock, and an Elemental Shaman. It also had five healers, namely two Holy Priests, one Restoration Druid, a Holy Paladin, and a Restoration Shaman. Following the Vigilant Guardian kill, all of the subsequent kills were World Firsts for Liquid.

Up next was Skolex, the Insatiable Ravener who they took down even quicker at two pulls. They once again ran a more melee-heavy composition but added two more ranged classes: another Warlock and a Balance Druid. They also removed the Restoration Shaman from the previous boss.

Then came a familiar face from Castle Nathria, Artificier Xy'mox, in which they took 16 pulls to defeat. Here, Liquid once again brought in only five ranged, replacing the Elemental Shaman and Balance Druid for Marksmanship Hunters. Additionally, they kicked the Restoration Druid to the curb and brought in a second Holy Palladin.

After Artificier Xy'mox, Liquid took down Dausegne, the Fallen Oracle in four pulls, once again focusing on melee but bringing in a sixth ranged DPS - they also went back to the Restoration Druid.

Lastly and most recently, the US representatives took down Prototype Pantheon. For this boss, they brought in more ranged DPS. The composition consisted of four Balance Druids, a Fire Mage, two Demonology Warlocks, and two Marksmanship Hunters. While keeping still keeping their importance in melee. This boss has been the most pulled boss for Liquid thus far at 34 attempts.
