Who has qualified for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup? All confirmed teams

Holders France are one of the sides who have qualified for this year’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

We now have 27 out of the final 32 World Cup teams confirmed, with just a few playoff games remaining.

As hosts, Qatar received automatic qualification to the tournament and as stated previously the opening game will feature the host nation.

Four-time World Cup winners Germany were the first team to guarantee a spot through the qualification process in Europe.

Brazil, the most successful national team in World Cup history with five trophies, secured swift qualification as one of the top four teams in South America's groups.

England already secured their place back in November by topping their qualifying group.

Places still up for grabs

As mentioned previously, 27 out of the final 32 World Cup teams confirmed which means that five spots are still up for grabs.

From Europe, one of Scotland, Ukraine or Wales will qualify.

Several teams from across the world can go into the inter-confederation play-off, which will then determine whether they qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The following teams can go into the inter-confederation playoffs:

  • Peru/Colombia/Chile
  • USA/Mexico/Costa Rica
  • Australia/United Arab Emirates
  • New Zealand/Solomon Islands

Inter-confederation playoffs

Here are the two playoff permutations.

They will be AFC (Asia) v CONMEBOL (South America) and CONCACAF (North America) v OFC (Oceania).

  • USA/Mexico/Costa Rica v New Zealand/Solomon Islands
