When is the IPL Auction 2023?

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is cricket's biggest and best T20 league, and this year's auction is coming soon.

A total of 405 players will take part in the auction as each team seeks to fill its squad with the brightest cricketing talents.

Many players have already been retained by their franchises, so the auction is all about putting the finishing touches on the squads.

When is the IPL Auction?

The 2023 IPL Auction will take place on Friday, 23 December.

This year's auction will take place in Kochi, commencing at 04:00 ET / 09:00 GMT / 14:30 IST.

IPL Roster Regulations

Each team in the IPL has a maximum squad size of 25, with eight of these players allowed to be overseas stars.

The 2023 auction contains 273 Indian players and 132 overseas players all vying for the remaining spots.

With just 30 overseas slots left among the franchises, many players will be left disappointed.

Just 87 slots are available for the 273 Indian players seeking a franchise, so once again there will be some top players missing out.

England players in the auction

As per Wisden, 27 English players have made themselves available to play in the 2023 IPL, joining the seven players already competing in the competition.

England's Test stars Ben Stokes and Joe Root are both available, along with exciting youngsters Harry Brook, Will Jacks, and Phil Salt.
