Doncaster Rovers have parted ways with manager Gary McSheffrey following a disappointing start to the 2022/23 EFL League Two season.

Rovers were expected to battle for the playoff places in League Two this season, but that hasn't materialised with the Yorkshire-based club languishing down in 12th place heading into GW15.

A 3-0 defeat away from home at Carlisle United on Saturday proved the final straw for McSheffrey, who has now been dismissed along with assistant manager Steve Eyre.

With the board's quest for a new head coach already underway, RealSport101's Harry Smith is on hand to give you the latest odds to replace Gary McSheffrey as Doncaster manager.

McSheffrey's Doncaster departure: As it happened

Discussing McSheffrey's departure with the club's official website, Doncaster chairman David Blunt explained:

“While results so far in Sky Bet League Two have been largely positive, there has been a growing concern over the standard of performances in matches and a lack of progress between games.

“We feel this is threatening our ability to achieve our stated goals for the season.

“We have also been disappointed that our wishes for a particular style of play and overall identity, which were clearly laid out over the summer, have not been brought into effect in competitive matches."
