Arsenal FC Transfer News and Rumours

With both Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubamayang having left the club, Arsenal will be looking to spend big on a striker this summer.

Mikel Arteta will be keen to build on the foundations laid last summer after a disappointing end to the season saw the Gunners drop out of the Champions League places at the expense of North London rivals Spurs.

Here are all the latest Arsenal rumours and transfer stories ahead of the 2022/23 Premier League season.

Latest News - Marquinhos Signs

Arsenal have signed 19-year-old Sao Paolo prospect Marquinhos in a deal worth £3.15m. The Brazilian teenager is a virtual unknown to European football fans but has impressed in his breakthrough season in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A.

Atletico Madrid were also keen on bringing Marquinhos through the door, but the exciting winger will emulate Gabriel Martinelli's path to North London.

Confirmed Arrivals

Matt Turner (New England Revolution) - £5.73m

Marquinhos (Sāo Paolo) - £3.15m

Rumoured Arrivals

Gabriel Jesus

Arsenal are clamouring to bring Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus to the Emirates this summer with Arteta identifying the 25-year-old as his primary attacking transfer target. The departures of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubamayang have left the Gunners without just one senior striker heading into pre-season.

Jesus' City future looks more complicated now following the long-awaited arrival of Norweigan star Erling Braut Haaland and Arsenal could offer the Brazilian a permanent home this summer. Chelsea are also keen on Jesus, while European champions Real Madrid have been linked.

Gianluca Scamacca

Italian striker Gianluca Scamacca has also been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer. The 2021/22 campaign proved to be a breakthrough one for the towering striker, who thrust his name into the forefront of the European striker discourse, making his Italian national team debut and scoring 16 league goals.

Standing at 6ft3, Scamacca boasts a totally different profile to Jesus. The physical forward's game is characterised by instinctive finishing, athletic dominance and aerial prowess, making him a vastly different option to the Brazilian.

Youri Tielemans

Youri Tielemans has been a hot topic in the 2022 summer transfer window so far with Arsenal battling Premier League rivals Spurs and Liverpool for his signature. The Belgian playmaker has been an ever-present for Leicester since joining the club in 2019.

The Foxes are desperate to keep hold of their star midfielder, but with the 25-year-old's contract set to expire at the end of next season, Brendon Rogers will likely be forced to part ways with Tielemans this summer.

Confirmed Departures

Alexander Lacazette (Lyon) - End of Contract

Matteo Guendouzi (Marseille) - £9.9m

Konstantinos Mavropanos (VfB Stuttgart) - £2.88m

Rumoured Departures

Daniel Ballard

23-year-old centre-back Daniel Ballard may not be a household name but could be on his way out of Arsenal this summer. The young defender impressed on loan with Millwall in the Championship last season but still has some way to go if he's to make the Premier League step.

William Saliba is expected to play an increased role for Arsenal this season and reports are surfacing that Ballard will be the man to make way from the squad with the centre-back set to leave the Emirates on a permanent deal. Millwall are interested in bringing Ballard back permanently, while Sheffield United have also been linked.

Bernd Leno

Newcastle United are on the hunt for a new first-choice goalkeeper this summer and could turn to Arsenal's Bernd Leno. The Magpies are still keen on signing Manchester United's Dean Henderson but could be priced out of a move with the club keen to secure at least £40m for his services.

Leno is reportedly Eddie Howe's secondary target with the German international pushing for a move away from the Emirates after losing his place to Aaron Ramsdale last season. Fulham are also interested in signing the 30-year-old.
