It's no secret that Sony is looking to have a lot more of their first-party exclusives also released on PC. With Horizon Forbidden West, this didn't happen at the same time as the PS5 release but it has to be part of plans for the game moving forward, right?
Well, with the recent addition of God of War nearly four years after its console debut, could we be looking at a similar wait for Horizon Forbidden West? It's highly unlikely.
Let's take a look at when Horizon Forbidden West might come to PC and why Sony might be looking to pull the trigger sooner rather than later.
Horizon Forbidden West PC Release Date
We can see Horizon Forbidden West releasing within one year of the games' PS5 release. This is because Sony have made it clear that PC will become a bigger platform in their goals moving forward. When the acquisition of Nixxes Software was confirmed, it showed just how serious they are.
Nixxes are specialists when it comes to porting console projects to PC. Some of their recent titles include the Tomb Raider games, as well as a double deal with Square Enix where they brought Marvel's: Avengers and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided to PC.
Looking at the pipeline of games that they might realistically have to port over to PC, Horizon would seem like it should be a top priority. That being said, we're still yet to see either of the Spider-Man titles make the move and games like Returnal could also be in line for a port.
It may come down to how Sony prioritize their projects moving forward but given the success of Zero Dawn on PC, it only makes sense - financially and critically - to port Horizon Forbidden West over as soon as possible.
