The Festival of Light in Pokemon Go will introduce Shiinotic to the game

With the Pokemon Go Season of Light now fully underway, trainers from across the world are waiting on every in-game event to go out there and catch as many new Pokemon as possible.

The latest of these events is the return of the Diwali-themed Festival of Lights for 2022 but with a very unique twist for this year that makes it one of the most interesting events that Pokemon Go has ever done.

Pokemon Go Festival of Lights - Start & End Dates

The Festival of Lights event for Pokemon Go will begin on Friday, 14th October 2022 at 10:00 and will end on Monday, 17th October 2022 at 20:00, with times being localised to your region.

This event will also crossover with the October Community Day that features Litwick, with Litwick being one of the featured encounters throughout.

Glowing Pokemon!

One of the more exciting parts of Pokemon Go's Season of Lights is how some Pokemon now glow at night.

What makes this year's Festival of Lights extra special is a new cosmetic change to certain wild pokemon featured throughout, with them glowing and lighting up their surroundings with a faint aura at night time.

It's unclear whether or not this feature will stick around after the event finishes but it will be a welcome addition to some Pokemon regardless.

Event Bonuses

Chinchou has a special bonus in the Festival of Lights event for Pokemon Go

Unlike most events, the Festival of Lights only has a handful of bonuses available throughout, including double catch candy, catch XP and double the length of incense.

The main bonus during this Pokemon Go event, however, is boosted shiny odds for Chinchou specifically, something rare for non-community day events.
