Mario Kart 8 Booster Course Pass Release Time: When can you play the new DLC tracks?


Almost 8 years after Mario Kart 8 released on Wii U, it is still one of the most popular games on Nintendo Switch. Now, more tracks are coming to the game to bolster the selection. If you want to try them, you'll want to know the Mario Kart 8 Booster Course Pass release time so that you can get ready to download them. We have all the details you need.

Mario Kart 8 Booster Course Pass Release Time

The first wave of tracks in the Mario Kart 8 Booster Course Pack releases on March 18 and should be live to download at midnight your local time.

Sometimes DLC releases a little later in the day on Nintendo Switch, but Nintendo hasn't commented on the exact release time, so we'd expect it to come at midnight. We'll confirm once we know for sure.

What the New Tracks Are

The tracks are coming in waves, with wave one of the Booster Course Pass featuring the Golden Dash Cup and the Lucky Cat Cup. The tracks included in those are:

Golden Dash Cup

  • Paris Promenade from Mario Kart Tour
  • Toad Circuit from Mario Kart 7
  • Choco Mountain from Mario Kart 64
  • Coconut Hall from Mario Kart Wii

Lucky Cat Cup

  • Tokyo Blur from Mario Kart Tour
  • Shroom Ridge from Mario Kart DS
  • Sky Garden from Mario Kart: Super Circuit
  • Ninja Hideaway from Mario Kart Tour

How to Buy & Download

There are two ways to get the Mario Kart 8 Booster Course Pass.

First of all, you can buy the whole pack and every wave after it for $24.99 / £22.49 as a one off purchase. Then, you'll be able to download every track that comes over the next couple of years.

Alternatively, if you are a member of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion pack service, you will be able to download it for free. Alongside all of the NES, SNES and N64 games, some DLC for Animal Crossing, and a handful of new games, you get all of the upcoming Mario Kart 8 tracks.
