Game Boy Advance Emulator Leaked for Nintendo Switch Online

Nintendo Switch Online has been a pretty varied service since its inception. Bringing new DLC, old games and the ability to play online, it has a little bit of a split focus. Some recent news on a Game Boy Advance leak may tighten it somewhat. Here's what we know.

Nintendo Switch Online Game Boy Emulator

In a recent tweet from Trash Bandatcoot, they revealed a recent leak on 4chan revealed that Game Boy emulators were in the works and currently operational, even if they're a little buggy.

This hints at Game Boy games being available as part of the Nintendo Switch Online service. As of right now, there are only a handful of games on it but this sets the groundwork for something much bigger. This is just the start of where it can go.

What Does This Mean?

In the tweet, it was revealed that this new emulation had a code name and games would be accessible through their own unique icon and application. Though this could just be a hiccup with emulation, there's technically a chance this could hint at actual releases on the EShop, as opposed to a subscription service. Fans have been clamouring for a way to buy the games by themselves and Nintendo may be giving it to them.

If this is purely intended for Nintendo Switch Online use, it seems likely that this is just one step in the future of the service. We will only see more Game Boy Advance with time and perhaps even more modern titles. It is unsure how modern Nintendo want to go but we may even get some Wii games if they continue to work on the service. They need things to keep coming back and this may just be what they need.
