Skill and luck are often intertwined, whilst things are blown out of proportion in the space of a few games. Spain’s experience at this World Cup in Russia would suggest managers still play a pivotal role at this level.

After sacking Julen Lopetegui days before the tournament kicked off and replacing him with Fernando Hierro, the Spanish suffered. Without Lopetegui in charge, they crashed out to the hosts on penalities in the Round of 16.

While Hierro was not the right man for the job, other managers have had a huge effect on their squad over the past month. But who is RealSport’s manager of the tournament?
