Arsenal vs CSKA Moscow: 5 players who could hurt Arsenal
As Arsene Wenger welcomes Viktor Goncharenko to the Emirates on Thursday night, here are five players who could give his team problems.
Arsene Wenger doesn’t do himself any favours. When asked about his sides’ chances of progressing against CSKA Moscow, the Frenchman was quick to highlight the quality of his competitors.
“I believe the level of the Europa League has gone up,” he told a gaggle of journalists ahead of Thursday night’s game at the Emirates Stadium.
“If you look at the teams who were involved and even some teams who went out like Dortmund, it is more difficult than ever before”.
Whilst the presence of luminaries like Atlético Madrid and RB Leipzig lend credence to Wenger’s statement, he will have been mildly pleased to draw CSKA in the quarterfinals.
The Militarians are locked in a two-way battle with city rivals Lokomotiv for the Russian title. They will be keen to attack a side renowned for its brittle confidence and fickle home support.
With that in mind, here are five players who could derail Wenger’s trophy hopes.
