Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks: Lineup advice for May 3, 2018

After yesterdays success with pitchers, and moderate success with hitters, we found ourselves in the money making spots once again. Can we repeat today? Let's see!

May 3 sees a six-game early slate (1pm ET) as the busiest contest lobby for DraftKings, so who should you be putting in your lineup today?

Carlos Carrasco Vs. Toronto Blue Jays ($12,100)

Carrasco was pulled from his last start, a three-inning, four-run horror show against Seattle, due to back stiffness but he should be good to go today. Prior to that game He was sitting on a strong 2.31 ERA that included a complete game against Detroit and four wins in five starts.

Carrasco's strikeout rate (7.6 K/9) has been a worry so far, but he has cut his WHIP to balance that out. Against the Blue Jays Carrasco sees a homer heavy lineup, but one that struggles to get on base. It is a risky start, but it should be a good one.

Masahiro Tanaka @ Houston Astros ($7,900)

Whisper it quietly, but Tanaka might be back. After a rough start to April he has turned things around with a combined 12.2 innings, 14 strikeouts, and just two earned runs in outings against the Twins and Angels. The Astros are in a slump right now, as Luis Severino benefited from last night. It's a risk, but he is very cheap for his form.

Julio Teheran @ New York Mets ($6,900)

Another one that left their last start due to back issues. Teheran had a shaky start to the season, allowing nine runs in eight innings over his first two starts, but since then he has posted a 2.45 ERA, struck out 24 in 22 innings, and walked just ten hitters. The Mets' middle of the road lineup was shut out last night, and while that is unlikely to happen again Teheran should be a strong point-getter today.

Paul Goldschmidt Vs. Los Angeles Dodgers ($4,500)

Goldschmidt has had a slow start to the 2018 season, but he is too good for it to continue. A career .297 hitter, he has struggled with strikeouts early but it should turnaround soon, and when it does you'll want him at this kind of price.

Corey Dickerson @ Washington Nationals ($4,000)

Dickerson had his tenth multi-hit game of the season last night, picking in two singles as well as a pair of RBI. His is slashing .318/.359/.533 to start 2018 and has four homers too. With 9.2 fantasy points per game he is good value to fill an outfield spot over the expensive options of Bryce Harper and AJ Pollock.

Howie Kendrick Vs. Pittsburgh Pirates ($3,400)

Keep riding that hot streak! Kendrick remains undervalued, as the ninth most expensive second baseman today. He went 3-for-5 yesterday with a pair of runs. He is now hitting .300 for the year and found himself batting fourth in the order too. Keep him in your lineup until the hot streak dies.
