Get ready for one hell of a ride! Doom 3 is getting a VR port and it's coming later this month!

In a surprise announcement from PlayStation earlier today, Sony confirmed that Doom 3 VR Edition was indeed a real thing and not a figment of every VR player's wildest dreams.

Below, we have everything you need to know about the upcoming VR release for Doom 3.

Doom 3 VR Release Date

Doom 3 VR Edition is launching on PlayStation's PSVR systems on March 29th, 2021.

" Take your Aim controller in hand, put on your PS VR headset, and step into the armored boots of The Doom Marine. Fight for your life as one of the few survivors left in a UAC facility overrun by demons."

It will be available for PSVR players on PS4 and PS5 via backwards compatibility.

Every Expansion

PlayStation has confirmed that their VR Edition of Doom 3 will contain the full Doom 3 experience.

This means that it will come with the base game as well as its' two expansions.

The Resurrection of Evil and The Lost Mission expansion packs both feature new story content, new weapons, and a number of new enemy types for you to slay.

Retooled For VR

Everything about Doom 3 VR Edition has been rebuilt for the PSVR system, making it a truly incredible experience.

" Feel even closer to the terror with all-new VR enhancements that allow you to peer around corners, angling your shots with flashlight-mounted weapons using motion controls, 180-degree quick-turn functionality..."

Essentially, it plays like you'd imagine a modern VR game to play but with Doom 3's iconic action-horror.

SCARY - Doom 3 is as much action as it is horror so you're in for a hell of a ride!

That also means there's going to be new textures and shaders added to the game with new sound effects to accompany the new way you're going to be playing.

Not only this, but there's a wrist-mounted display that will indicate how much health you have!
